A Helping Hand of Wilmington

Last summer (2024) I arrived in Wilmington broken and bankrupt, not just financially but spiritually as well. Since then, I completed a 6 month rehab/behavior modification program successfully, worked at that rehab as a Peer Mentor, Peer Mentor Supervisor, became certified as a Peer Support Specialist, interned as a Peer Support Specialist at another organization, and now work at that organization as a full-time Peer Support Specialist and Admissions Coordinator. This growth and transformation from utter failure to success was a team effort though and I could not have done it without the help from Helping Hands and my therapist Khristine W. She is intelligent, insightful, kind, and compassionate. Her empathetic ear, sage suggestions, and honest humility has guided me through my recovery journey. In the depths of darkness there is always a hand that reaches down to pull you up into the Light. Helping Hands and Khristine was that hand for me. I AM eternally grateful for her guidance and support. If you think there is nowhere else to go but down, look up and grab hold of that hand. It is there whether you see it or not. Let it gently pull you up from the abyss and into Life. For everyone deserves to "dare to live the life they have imagined" for themselves. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Khristine W. and Helping Hands for helping me live the life I have imagined for myself. A Life of substance, passion, and purpose. 🙏🏻💪🏻

I absolutely love a helping hand! Been going here for a while and recently started seeing Leah Small and she is seriously a perfect fit for me and I highly recommend honestly any of the people working here; they’re all so friendly and knowledgeable and welcoming.

I have never had positive experiences with therapy until I started a helping hand and starting working with Khristine. Not only does she give me her total attention and focus she has allowed me to do our sessions over the phone and has always worked with my schedule. She has gone over and beyond to make me feel heard and comfortable. The first therapist I’ve ever been to that I feel actually cares. I look forward to our sessions and I would highly recommend.

I wasn't made to go to IOP at Helping Hand, but I knew myself well enough that I needed extended care after rehab. I couldn't be happier with it. Steph is no-nonsense but very caring. She kept the group dynamic at a great level, lots of good information and feedback all around. She definitely helped me with my addiction, my own perspective on life, and my marriage as well. Sometimes you just have to trust the professionals. I finally did and it made a world of difference.

I’ve used therapeutic services for much of my adult life but Deborah at Helping Hands is by far the best therapist I’ve ever had. She is both emotionally intelligent and book smart- a rare find. She provides a safe space to work through your thoughts and feelings and is very perceptive. I can’t say enough good things about her- she is definitely in the right career field. If you are ready to do the work, Deborah can help you.

I have been seeing the AMAZING Deborah at A Helping Hand and after many attempts to find "my person" in a therapist I love her and would be devastated if she went anywhere! She is helpful in so many ways, and is available or understanding when schedules conflict. She never makes me feel unwanted or like she isn't available. She is a saving grace! The whole office and everyone has been helpful, I would strongly recommend them to anyone even considering therapy. Its like a new best friend!
