I’ve been taking my daughter here for about three years. The care has been good, but I’ve been finding more and more issues with this place’s lack of flexibility and financial demands. If you have three cancelations, they’ll take your kid off the schedule for weeks or months at a time, depending on how the school semester is lined up at the time. I’ve also been haggled numerous times about when she’s tired or falling asleep when she comes in. It’s always after school. She’s 5. She’s tired. When else am I supposed to bring her in? My daughter is also now eligible for Medicaid, but Abilities won’t accept that for her care currently because they have a cap on how many kids can be on Medicaid at a time. Really? Sorry I don’t want to pay hundreds of dollars a month when I don’t have to. And that’s not even a guarantee, because we’re currently paying out of pocket ON TOP OF our normal insurance this month…because they and Abilities are renegotiating their contract. Again, the care itself here has been mostly good. But I am so done always having to invest more money to accommodate this facility and or greedy insurance companies. If they don’t take my daughter’s Medicaid when she’s approved, I will likely be pulling her out and taking her somewhere that does.
We love Ability Innovations!! Highly recommend to anyone who is need of speech therapy! My daughter, who has autism started coming when she was completely non-verbal. Thanks to Abby and her amazing guidance and team, my daughter began to speak and communicate after a few short months! The team will work together to come up with a special plan for your child, custom to their needs. No problem is too big or too small for them, and the greatest part is they will help me as a parent to be of better support to my child. If I could give 100 stars I would!!
My (4 yo) daughter and I have had an amazing experience with Ability Innovations. Their play-based and family-focused approach has truly made a huge difference. In addition to being a parent of a child receiving services from them, I am also a child psychologist who often refers children to these types of developmental services. I will definitely refer families to Ability Innovations in the future. Special shout-out to Melanie (SLP), who has been amazing to work with and has focused on my daughter's strengths while giving us so many helpful play-based strategies to use at home to support her development. I was worried about what to do with my less-than-1-year-old son during therapy sessions. Melanie has encouraged me to bring him to our sessions and often includes him as a part of my daughter's therapy. We have not started OT services yet, but Melissa (OT) did a wonderful job during our evaluation, and I was impressed with her report and targeted OT goals for my daughter. Thank you, Ability Innovations, for the warm and supportive experience we have had thus far!
I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for the phenomenal work you do, and to specifically recognize **Amy (OT)** and **Kennedy (SLP)**. They have been an absolute blessing to our family. The integrated support from these two has been truly life-changing for my son: * **Kennedy (SLP):** Her dedication to his **AAC device** training and her focused work on his **verbal communication** have been transformative. She has unlocked his ability to express himself and communicate with the world. It is truly amazing to watch his communication abilities be unlocked before my eyes. He is able to express his feelings to me either on his AAC or occasionally verbally. * **Amy (OT):** Amy is truly amazing. Her expertise in Occupational Therapy, specifically using techniques like **body coding**, has helped him immensely with his sensory regulation, he doesn't hit me anymore and his overall well-being is calmer and he is processing everything in a calm manner now. Amy has gone above and beyond to support all four of our children, and has empowered me as a parent in countless ways. We will never forget the incredible compassion your team showed when we lost our house. The efforts Amy made to go **so far out of their way** to support our family during that devastating time were an act of care and love that defines your organization. Thank you for being such a vital and cherished part of our lives
I have been consulting with Nick Sidwell about my neurodivergent kids for over 10 years and cant say enough good about him. He is very quick to observe the needs of my children and offer many options on how to help them at home and provide amazing therapy at sessions. I've never seen a child that doesn't instantly love playing (working) with Nick and his team. I recommend him ans Ability Innovation to everyone I know who may need services.
The time my child and I wasted while we sat on a waitlist for what we thought was a reputable place and going to be a great experience... Let me start by saying that play is a great way to prompt a speech therapy lesson - play instigates conversation. However, a plan of action should accompany it. $420 per appt for 30min of narrated play time where my child was allowed to bounce around between whatever toys she wanted and the therapist followed her and just talked about what they were playing with. Simultaneously, other parents and their children have their appointments going on in the same room. I would have thought that it would be abundantly clear that my speech-delayed child needed someone that was going to actually do a deep-dive on her abilities and struggles to create a structured course of action. There was no plan going into the appts. After two physical appts of that, we immediately called it quits to move on and find somewhere else. I wouldn't have been so upset, but to bill $420 per appt for 30min of play time and call that speech therapy is wrong. I don't know how anyone could argue otherwise. The only reason this review gets two stars is because the therapist had a friendly personality.
Ability interventions has helped my daughter get get to where she needs to be she was behind in some milestone but with the help of this place and Morgan she's is improving I would 100% recommend this place
My daughter has developed so much since she began coming to Ability Innovations! Coming to therapy has become one of the highlights of her week, she adores playing and learning with both of her therapists.
Unfortunately, my saw zero improvement in the course of treatment.
We have been enjoying the South Ogden/ Washington Terrace facility since shortly after they opened. We have been very satisfied with the quality of knowledge the therapists have and continue to gain. Our children have received both occupational and speech therapies here. This is a wonderful resource for families in Weber county!
