We see NP Sandy Bennett who has honestly changed our lives. My family avoids going anywhere due to 2 children being on the spectrum. Sandy has helped us so we can safely go into our community. With resources we didn’t know we’re available or even suggested by anyone else. I know a lot of people are upset over the wait times but I have 1st hand seen these providers do everything they can to help other families who are waiting. I travel from a longer distance then most ,just to see these providers.

I had to get a referral for developmental pediatrics, which I got last year in Aug 2023. There was a 6 MONTH waiting list just to talk to the intake nurse. Talked to the intake nurse who sent me to scheduling and made an appointment for Aug 2024. It's been a full year of me trying to get help for my severely delayed 4 year old. I call today to confirm the appointment. This office has 1. No record of me speaking with the intake nurse 2. Yet somehow a note from the intake nurse saying I need paperwork for an autism screening (autism has already been ruled out by several other drs and I need a developmental screening for him). Paperwork was never sent to me. 3. No record of the appointment we made back in February. 4. Now there is supposedly a 24 month waiting list for an autism screening, which I had to tell this lady several times we need to be seen by a developmental pediatrician. Apparently we were never on this wait list because we never filled out the paperwork. So after a year of completely wasting my time, the nurse-- who infuriatingly kept talk about an autism screening and my son's speech thearpy (who have their stuff together and got their appoints in and that is not the issue) just asks me to hold and then hangs up on me. My child is severely disabled and needs medical care. He has apraxia of speech and receives OT and Speech through school and at akron childrens. He has an IEP and case workers. What a terrible way to treat a 4 year old disabled child by losing his records.

They LIED to us about being able to schedule my son for a developmental pediatric evaluation for Autism and ADHD. They scheduled me in 5 months, which is much faster than the 12 to 14 months that Cleveland Clinic could get us in. So instead of getting on a wait-list with the Clinic I scheduled with them. Fast forward 5 months, attend the zoom meeting, and am told that it's just a nurse intake and there would be a TWO YEAR wait for an evaluation. They are just going to ask me intake information to schedule the eval. I am LIVID about the complete misrepresentation of this establishment to their patients. I have lost 5 months of time towards an actual eval for my son that is in need of services. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE OF SCHEDULING WITH THEM!!!! Cleveland Clinic scheduling informed me that this same thing has happened to several other people with Akron. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!
