Definitely have had to have years of therapy to get as far as i have in life. I had a rough stay from 2010 to 2012. A decent amount of abuse. Being told I'd never amount to anything. Being constantly put on the floor constantly and had people "containing me" for trying to express myself. For instance.. I was verbally attacked for trying to learn about my recognized religion, I had protested being denied books about it. I was hurting myself because I wanted to die. Staff would either slam me on the ground pulling my arms til I screamed or said "oh let him cut. He'll get tired eventually." Yes. I was a hellian, i had issues. Thats probably while your child is there.. i was manipulated into thinking it was my fault. I never had a behavioral issue before I went in on the level that that I had by the time I came out. At 28, I'm just fully coming to terms with how much damage was done to me here. And can finally heal and lay demons to rest. Maybe the program has changed in 10 years.. but this review still deserves its place here.

For the second time, I have been blessed with the honor to be a visitor at Alabama Clinical Schools. Besides the excitement of seeing the students fully engaged, which is a direct reflection of the engagement & attention that the staff & teachers give to the students, there is something powerful about giving the students not only education & inspiration, but a guided voice. Truly, Alabama Clinical Schools is a special place, and I look forward to seeing the ongoing progression.

Mr. Drayton was my professor at UAB a few semesters ago and he briefly shared about the services that ACS provides. His class had to have been my favorite as a social work student and I was grateful to meet with him recently to learn more about it. We were given a tour around the facility and further explained about the services and processes the agency undergoes. I was very impressed to see all of the services that ACS provides and the different health professionals that work together to improve the lives of these kids. Meeting the staff members, you could see the passion that they have working for their agency's purpose.

We have been working with ACS for a few months now. They have been taking care of our foster child while he works on himself. I cannot recommend this facility enough. Staff like Mr. Barry, Mrs. Pashon, and Mr. Ken are great with the kids and really care about their well-being. Mr. Drayton has personally stepped in to help us a few times and understands how frustrating things can be when dealing with DHR.

I've been a foster parent with ACS for a few years. The staff there is friendly and always reaches out to help me in any situation with a child that is placed in my home. My current case manager, Dominique, is awesome. She's always available when I need assistance in dealing with certain behaviors with the child I am fostering. Lets be honest, dealing with a child with behavior issues can be tiresome and frustrating at times. My case manager steps in and listens and advises on the best ways in order to deal with the situation. Overall, my experience with fostering through ACS has been a wonderful.
