I've been dealing with Alaska Behavorial Healh for a little bit now. I started when I was in Treatment, they always treat me with respect, never less than...I got my meds through them which have helped me immensely! The staff have always been nice to me, and the reason I go back is Dr.Myra Kelly.... she always takes her time to read over and explain anything on my charts and figures a course of action ... Thanks Alaska Behavioral Health
Would give Zero stars if I could. Was never informed of who I would be seeing until I showed up for the appointment. Joe saw me for all of 20 minutes through Telehealth (was never told it was going to be Telehealth. I loved having wasted the time driving to Fairbanks for a 20 minute zoom call.) and decided that ALL of my diagnosis that I’ve had for 10+ Years were Incorrect and I didn’t actually have them. No ADHD, No Bipolar, No Depression. He credited all my issues to “poor sleep schedule”. I used to go to this center for YEARS as a Teen and Young Adult and have never felt so blatantly disrespected, disregarded, and brushed aside as I did in the time I was in this building for 1 appointment. Joe decided to focus on all the wrong problems, and completely ignored the fact that I was there as a person seeking to stabilize their mental health. I went in for HELP, and was basically shoved out the door with “You don’t have this, See another clinic if you want a second opinion.”
They let their patient suffer and go without their medications because they don’t know how to manage their time. We were told to call on Monday to speak with the ANRP who is managing our meds and after leaving a message on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday we still never received a call back. Called again on Friday only to be told they don’t have clinic on Friday and the providers in Anchorage won’t do anything about it so we must wait until Monday to speak with Kim. That will be 7 days without our psychiatric medications! This should not be allowed to happen. Joe with the nursing managers office is a real piece of work she was dismissive and sarcastic I can’t believe medical offices let people like he interact with the public.
Had Joe Delong literally laugh at me multiple times, treated me like I was a bad person or something, treat me with no respect, wouldn't order testing, wouldn't review past medical records(including hospitalization). In Alaska when using medicaid for insurance this is the only dr I can get into after MONTHS. Its hard enough to even ask for help... then to feel humiliated and think there is no hope. It's just sad.
I suggest you proceed with caution. The leadership in this organization is very weak. I had several problems that were not addressed and as a result my health declined rapidly. I tried to go through their grievance process and was literally ignored. If this is the only treatment you can find then get what you can out of it. In my opinion the organization does not take responsibility for their mistakes. This reflects poor leadership and even cowardice. Terrible. Lots of gaslighting too. Its too bad because they could have a greater thing going. I can honestly say my health declined while going to AKBH. Now im with TVC BH. I gave AKBH two stars because they have potential.
Was referred here for PCP. Am on a schedule five nerve pain med. I have a herniated disc and can’t hold my child or work without the medication. Myra saw me for initial appt and all was well and she said they would take good care of me. Friday I called for a refill and was denied and told I had to have another visit and pass a drug test? My next appt wasn’t for weeks. People on the phone were sarcastic when uncaring. I’m in the medical field and was told that this was wrong and they just want more money out of it. Went all weekend without holding my son, now I’m depressed and unable to work or get out of bed. In my opinion everyone involved should be ashamed of themselves. I wish I would have known that then I would’ve come in that day or sooner to take drug test. I’m willing to jump through whatever stupid hoops they want me to but you can’t just abandon me as a patient. I feel that they just abandoned me so beware.
