It was a truly satisfying experience; I learned a lot, and they listened to me and explained how to deal with my problems and worries. I felt safe.

Horrible experience!! Dr. Avila decided to wait until my son really needed his help and dismissed him from practice simply because my son changed his mind and doesn’t want to do group therapy. Very disappointed, instead of trying to work with my son and work up to the group therapy Dr. Avila rather just wash his hands with it. Explained this to my son’s new therapist and they were appalled that instead of working with my son Dr. Avila rather just say goodbye. Find yourself a practice that cares about your kids needs. Dr. Avila, I’m gonna respond to your response. Let’s take some accountability here on your end. I have another therapist tell me that the way you treated my son is absolutely appalling and no child should be forced to do anything that they don’t wanna do. Especially group therapy if they have social anxiety. I know I’m in the right. So what you’re basically saying with your response is that when you have a client and they return because they need your services. Which I believe you stated if you need me, I’m here. He started those sessions back up again. You can’t sit here and say he wasn’t an active client when you started sessions back up with him every two weeks. You mentioned Yale IOP because it was already being offered to him, and I made it very clear that he does not want to do that. Yale IOP just makes sure that you can do the task they give you at hand and you’re dismissed. He made it very clear that he did not want to be in a group setting and you looked at my son and told him that he has to do the Yale IOP or you will no longer see him. Therefore, my son agreed feeling forced mind you (with me not in the room) that he was going to do the IOP. Once I started that process, he opened up and let me know that it was not something he wanted to do. Also let me know that you forced him into signing by letting him know that you won’t see him anymore if he didn’t agree, and sign the paper. You were wrong in how you handled my son.

I have been coming for about a yr now and I can truly say that I love it! I love that my daughter and I can go to the same office and that she look forward to seeing her therapist Brenda! Dr. Avila is amazing too!

Dr. A. has been my shinning star and I’ve learn so much about myself, my strength. All the staff are friendly and handle with total professionalism. I feel at home every time I go. To sum up… I wholeheartedly recommend - super good therapist in a group or individually.
