I love Dr Syed. Hiwever their assistants really suck at answering the phones. I have been calling for FOUR business days in a row leaving messages when the mailbox isnt full. Nobody will even call me back to reschedule my child's appointment or figure out her medications. If you cant communicate how can you run a successful and reliabke practice?!

Dr. Faheem and Dr. Syed are very knowledgeable and experienced. Their office is also very spacious. They recently made renovations. The whole atmosphere feels very comfortable and inviting. I highly recommend Appalachian Psychiatric Services!

Update: So Dr. Syed called me and said he is going to cut my meds and take a few away Cold Turkey. He said he didn’t know I was on these Meds and didn’t know the Dosages I was on. He is supposed to know because when I Do get my Medication Authorized, it Is by him. So I guess he just doesn’t check what he Authorizes. He then proceed to give me an Ultimatum between which meds I can stay on, and meds he’s taking away Cold Turkey. I know what my meds do and how they work, but I told him that that’s Literally His Job is to Regulate my Medication, & how is a Patient supposed to know what to keep or hit rid of. He became Irate, so I told him to do whatever he needs to do, I’ll just be happy to get my meds Authorized and said goodbye. I told him I will be switching Doctors, because nothing has been attempted to change and it’s unbelievable that a patient has to endure these unprofessional situations month after month. He called me again a few weeks later. (After Obviously Reading my other Review) and had an argumentative tone and told me again, he is going to cut my meds because I went to the hospital to get prescriptions because his Office Failed to Provide. He then stated that I “Hung up on Him” last time and showed that he was upset and was obviously blatantly using his Status as a DR., to change everything again. I explained to him, “why am I being punished for your incompetence?” He stated, because I went to the hospital frantic with extreme anxiety. And I had the meds in my system when I went to the Hospital. While being Over talked constantly, I was still able to tell him that (Once Again) I took my last meds I had. (I went to the office 2 days before for my monthly check up, and was already supposed to have a refill, but ofcourse, no authorization, so I had to endure for the weekend. After a month before I had my meds increased and some decreased.) So I went to the hospital over the weekend. He then stated my medications weren’t authorized because I haven’t been to the facility in some time. So I had to tell My Doctor, that I go Every Single Month. If I am late I even call. If I couldn’t drive, I walked. So that excuse was invalid. He said that he didn’t want to argue with me and I agreed. I told him that he obviously was not only not qualified to give me the proper treatment I needed, but also argued with a patient to begin with is almost comedic at this point. I asked him. “Just so I understand this correctly, you are telling me that you are Unqualified to be able to give me the Proper Treatment that Me as a Patient needs.” He then said he was just going to leave the phone on and let me talk because I repeated this statement 3 times without an answer. He stated that I should find another DR. because I told him previously I will be getting one. He also stated that he would provide me with 2 more refills before continuing to do so moving forward. After stepping away from the phone, he hung up the phone after less than 10 seconds. I have gone to my Pharmacy to receive only 3 meds. Ironically, there is no prescription for my anxiety medications (I take 2) and that was one of my main diagnosis given when I went to the hospital previously. There are Nurses, and Doctors at that office that do a great job and have to Carry the weight of the incompetent ones, just to continue to stay afloat. My Doctor under Dr. Syed was amazing, and the Head Nurse is too. But the individual that is the front receptionist (I will not state names). Is unbelievably unknowledgeable to the point where, there is no sign for striving for improvement. On a last note. The state of that building housing everyone is appalling. The fences outside are twisted, crushed, bent and just plainly atrocious so badly, it looks like an Artist’s (Well Preformed) attempt at making it as grotesque as possible. This is the first thing you see from the main road when people drive by. That alone shows the first impression of this office and the state of this property and how it is cared for from (also the inside) outside of the office.

This place is COMPLETE & UTTER TRASH!!!! Specifically, Dr. Faheem. I didn’t even want to give one star, but it wouldn’t let me leave this review if I didn’t. I was literally the Only person in the waiting room & it still took over an hour to call me back. He kept asking me questions about my parents & brother after I had already told him 4 times that my entire family is deceased & therefore cannot help me in any way, however they are a very major part of my depression & anxiety. His exact words after learning that I served overseas & have been being treated for PTSD & a brain injury ever since I got home was, “I can’t help you.” I don’t understand how he even has a medical license & practice. He flat out Refused me medical assistance, which I’m positive is illegal due to the actual Oath that All doctors have to take. The only way I can justify the one star that I was basically forced to give simply in order to be able to leave trash review, is that the staff was very polite at least. So, My personal recommendation is to Not waste your time & gas going there because you will walk out in worse mental condition than you were when you walked in. 100% Pure Trash so-called “Dr”. Extremely arrogant. Won’t listen to anything. & after waiting over an hour in an empty waiting room, his cell phone rings the literal second I walked into his office & he actually answered it & walked out of the room without saying a word to me. So I waited about another 10 minutes for him to come back, pretend to glance through my extensive medical records that I brought with me, thinking it would make things easier, just for him to say, “I can’t help you.” Why are people that obviously don’t care about their patients or anything else allowed to operate within the mental health system???? RIDICULOUS.
