The Nurses & Doctors take very good care of Me at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital
Shameful.
Shameful. I have very severe health problems. I had an abscess burst in my intestines, and needed my feeding tube exchanged. I also needed an acid reducer, because stomach acid is going where it shouldn't be, and is literally burning my lung. I was direct when I went in. I said i will need protonics (acid reducer) and pain medicine through an iv since my feeding tube broke. You would have thought i asked them to go into the alley and get some random stranger to inject me with fentanyl. My feeding tube is sutured in, and typically exchanged under anaesthesia. They did not put me under, and instead, ripped out my tube, before administering any pain meds, tried to shove it back in, and then told me that they needed another doctor to do it under interventional radiology. I was already in excruciating pain. They told me that they weren't going to give me pain meds, just lidocaine to finish the procedure, because the Dr. who said I could have it, was on the phone, and if we waited for meds, then I wouldn't get my tube exchanged that day. They asked me several times if i had allergies and i told them i have an allergy to adhesives in medical tape. Four separate times. After they exchanged my tube, they did no other follow up, nothing. I asked if the Dr. could give me something for the pain. She wanted to send me with tylenol. I told her, i normally take 10 mg of oxycodone through my feeding tube about every six hours. She said she wasn't comfortable prescribing me liquid. (WHAT?!) So, because i can't take oral medications, i just shouldn't have them? Because it would take one extra step for her to figure out dosage in liquid, instead of a pill. I told her, i was just going to have to go to another ER because i am not in my home state and you have to be seen in person to get narcotics. She prescribed me 15 mgs of oxycodone, and then after i left the ER she called the pharmacy and had them change the script to hydrocodone, (a less effective prescription.) not even two doses. I cannot describe the level of pain i am dealing with. They did a chest x-ray, they can see my fractured ribs, and the swelling in my chest. They urine tested me, they knew i was not on any other drugs, and they still ignored my pain. She still ignored me when i said i have an adhesive allergy. The nurse who checked me in was terrible. She was visibly irritated, and short with me because i have a child. She dug around in my arm trying to place an IV like she was a blind sadist. She acted like i was coming in there for a little headache, and i was just med seeking. Why do they want people to suffer? She rolled her eyes at me when i asked if they were going to give me morphine before they exchanged my broken feeding tube, and then she used as much medical tape on my skin as she could to secure it. I get that there are people who come in, people who malinger, but i came in with fractured ribs, a bursting abscess, and a minor surgcal procedure, i needed something stronger than tylenol. They treated me like a criminal, not a patient, it was an awful experience. Go somewhere else if you possibly can.
I went in for a migraine and left with a 3,500$ BILL!!! The service was horrible. I asked for an IV they gave me an IM injection instead. When they were done they told me I was able to leave and didn’t ask my pain level. If you could go somewhere else I WOULD!!!
ER review.. Took my child in for severe stomach pain.. we had an amazing nurse..the dr however did very minimal, only saw him maybe 1 minute. She asked for nausea and pain medication..they said sure and she never got it. After very minimal labs they sent her home to "eat a bland diet and take ibprofen." She had a bowel obstruction, discended bladder and pneumonia in her left lung...all found on a simple xray the next day with our regular provider. How you miss 3 things and send her home saying she's fine is WILD! Last year same doctor stitched up my other child's lacerated leg from a scooter accident. Aside from stitches he did nothing. She ended up having severe tendon issue and required multiple visits to Dr, orthopedics, xrays, mri and 6 months of PT.. He sent her home with internal and external stitches and to take ibprofen.. no further investigation into a deep laceration... took us 3 months to discover why she wasn't healing and in pain/inflamation because we were told it was fine.. The lack of finding issues, offering resolutions or actual help is non existent. Truly awful. I would never recommend anyone go there and expect quality care.
I gave birth here and was astonished to get a bill closer to 20k for a night. I asked for an itemized bill but still nothing, all they keep sending me is an empty bill which I ain’t paying until I see what exactly I’m paying for. My insurance company refused to pay because they think that’s a ridiculous amount for a night! If I don’t get what I’m asking for, I ain’t paying a dime! I don’t need involving my attorney if needed to. I work in the medical industry so I know how greedy healthcare companies can be. The nurses and other staff members are AWESOME and I know that they’re not part of all this greediness!
ROBERT T. FERRELL, M.D., FACOG; He was our delivery and OB doctor for my last child. My child is almost 5 and he doesn't talk. When I was in delivery I asked a number of times to have a C-Section done because nothing was improving and the nurses that time would not talk to DR as far as i know. My child is now possibly disabled due to the delivery. I was told after he was deliverd he had a broken rib; his breathing was off and something else. Then the report comes back "oh no he didn't never mind) We had to stay a few days after our leaving date because he had to be monitered and had to pay for our food. I am very disappointed and am asking around for any and all help I can now get to help him. If i was allowed a C-Section, i was getting a tubal anyways, and He had ended up like this I wouldn't have made such a fuss. But you guys need to take some sort of responsibility for what happened. You don't have to listen to him hollar all day until he sleeps. You don't have to take care of him. You don't have to change him daily because he's not potty trained. I thought i had bad care in North Platte with my first, this was just as bad. Not being checked on very often. I had to push my call light. Just wasn't the best experience. I had gotten my tubes tide because i didn't want to go through this pain again.
