Took my 2yo son with an ear infection & apparently covid as well. They got him care/results quickly and on outta there.
Good when you need it, support staff is understaffed and underpaid.
They almost killed my fiancé and take no accountability for it! And they expect him to pay or they take the house. Worst place and experience in my life. Money hungry unprofessional people. He told them I don’t feel right and they said oh you’re fine. They committed malpractice and he has to pay for that financially and with his life!! He had three minutes to spare and an out of state doctor saved his life. I hate avera with every ounce of my being.
Pretty rough place. Staff were nice but didn’t follow standard nursing practices and poor communication.. They tried kicking my father in law out the day after the accident. We had to put our foot down and challenge that. Almost a week later we went home where he passed out. Our local hospital found, 5 broken ribs and a bleeding spleen that was missed. Less then impressed.
So I got induced and gave birth to my first baby here in January of 2024 and my experience was amazing. My nurses were amazing and the food wasn’t half bad and my anesthesiologist did an amazing job, I didn’t even feel the epidural. My doctor came in every 3 to 4 hours to check on me and after I had my baby she came in twice a day. We ended up staying for 5 days total and they were great. My bed in my recovery room was big enough for both me and my husband to sleep together. The staff was very accommodating and great will definitely be having all of my children here.
I became ill in Pierre while traveling early last month and ended up spending several days in Avera St. Mary's. The medical care I received was excellent, and almost every single staff member at every level was friendly, comforting and helpful to me and my husband. We are most grateful that this hospital happened to be there just when we needed it .
