Back to Basics is a wonderful program designed to help youth and younger generations grow not only in knowledge but life skills. In the times we live in we need our now and next generations to learn how to not only live life but to make life count and Back to Basics is sowing good seeds and skills towards that endeavor.

Back to basics is such a solid program for the youth in our city! They're really out here giving kids guidance, support, and chances to grow. Our community benefits from programs like this, and I'm genuinely glad Back 2 Basics is here doing the work they do.

The Back 2 Basics Program is essential as a preventative initiative for at-risk youth. It focuses on deterring negative behaviors before they escalate and lead to involvement with the judicial system. The program incorporates SEL modules and activities, along with skill-streaming lessons designed to support skill development and personal growth. Participants consistently speak highly of their experience, and it is truly a blessing to have this program available to support young people.

I absolutely love the impact and the spread of knowledge that Back 2 Basics Youth Iowa provides to the youth of our community, as well as the adults even! This program is one I wished was around when I was younger! Instilling leadership qualities, upstanding character traits, and knowledge of skills that we all cherish (Gardening, Fishing, Cooking, etc)!! I highly recommend Back 2 Basics program to anyone!

Back 2 Basic has been a blessing for my son and other youth as well, as a parent what I love about Back 2 Basic Mike Robinson and his wife goes up and beyond for their children in program. Back 2 Basic teaches our youth, life skills. From, teaching them how to gardening there vegetables and fruits, health tips on eating healthy foods, how to handle emotions and anger if needed, they teach the youth how to fish scale them clean them Cook them, and eat them, they enjoy taking the kids camping showing them , and letting them put there tents together I know my 10 year old know how to put up a tent I was lost putting one up but my 10 year old saved me he said he learned from Basic 2 Basic that really made my day I like that they show them let them get the feel and then hands on. They take them on outings them and there staff they are amazing team. The things I love about Back 2 Basics Is when school is out it gives our youth many things to do during the summer 4 days out the week or more if they planned outings, but for my youth I dont want him sitting up on video games or running around the neighborhood with the neighborhood kids every day when he could be out doing and learning much more some kids get bored or start hanging around the wrong group of friend/friends and thats one thing Back 2 Basic is trying to prevent. they also teach them how to control your emotions ,anger anything that could get them in trouble, dealing with difficult situations that may accure in life. Back 2Basic treats our youth like there own. I remember hearing back in the days it takes a village to raise a child got older my son had joined Back 2 Basic he got in the program me and his dad had start seeing signs nothing bad he started getting more reliable we would have to repeat our self that changed and yes he is a lil spoiled so he would be upset with me if were at a store and he wanted something I notice that change, Back 2 Basic has been a blessing in our lives and for my 10 year. Im not gone say I'm the best mom but I'm a trying mom. I have spent the past 2 summers working as staff for this program. I strongly recommend and encourage all families to sign up for this program. This program is able to teach kids skills that could help them in the future like fishing and planting gardens! I myself had no idea how to do any of it and I was able to learn, it was so much fun watching the kids be proud of the growth the plant made and being able to catch their very first fish and to see the smile on their faces! ❤️ This program gives your kids experiences that they may not get in school. They plan a big trip every year where we have went to a Minnesota Twins baseball game, adventureland, and the Blank Park Zoo in Des Moines! The relationships that I was able to create with the kids was so rewarding and it felt like a family. Not just that but they also learn the definition and importance of anger management, self esteem, responsibility, etc. that they can use to apply to their life! I am so grateful for the experiences I have had being in this program and hope that it will continue to grow and more people will join! It is something great to be apart of! Sign your kid up today!

Absolutely Outstanding Program! This youth program has been a game changer for our community. It gets kids outdoors, keeps them active, and gives them a positive place to spend their time. The mentors are supportive, the activities are engaging, and you can truly see the difference it makes in confidence and behavior.
