My son received services through Beacon (under birth to three) when he was 19 months old. He was diagnosed at 22 months old with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder). He was given SLP, OT, ABA and a SW who diagnosed him. We had the WORST experience with the SW that we ended up asking to remove her from my sons plan. This is my first son and first experience with Autism so i wasnt very knowledgeable. I trusted Beacon to have me covered in that area or at least educate me especially when we had his transition meeting to the public school system. My son is 6yrs old and in 1st grade now and really struggling socially. Didn't come to find out until now that during that transition meeting that the school didnt accept his Autism diagnosis and his IEP was under “developmental delay”. When his 3 year review for his IEP came up i was told his primary diagnosis under his IEP had to change. My going through this process all over again with a different provider and i was told i had to be present during the transition meeting. I couldnt even recall if i was present during my sons transition meeting. I had to call Beacon to pull up my sons records and long and behold i was present virtually but i had no clue why i was present for that meeting or what my role was during that meeting. A lot of lack of education on their part. I am now having to seek an attorney to help my son with the school system to get the help he needs. Would i had known where things went wrong in the first place i would had advocated a lot harder and would have sought an advocate (even though Beacon was supposed to be my sons advocate). I would recommend going with a different provider.

My family "received" services from BEACON. We were told we'd be getting an SLP (the only service needed and approved for) and we were given a general case manager with no knowledge of the SLP field. Every single week I'd request a meeting with an SLP and was constantly put off. The person we were given was dismissive of our family supports and pushed incorrect and personal opinion "diagnoses." Wasted way too many months with this company and desperately wished I dropped them sooner. If you're willing to give them a try be ready to advocate heavily and make a lot of phone calls.

I would never recommend this place to anyone I don't feel like they are here for the children I feel like there here for that Medicaid money ....my child is very speech delayed I worked with beacon for 2 years ....I finally had a visit with the ct children development center and it was stated that my child should have been offered the aac program which would have helped my child a great deal ...BEACON SERVICE NEVER OFFERED THAT ...so now my child being the age my child is still have NOT formed words thanks to the lack of beacon services ...was a waist of time and education for mychild but now my child will get all the services he needs because the people that I am working with now actually care for the children and want to see children succeed...please moms and dad's DO NOT GO WITH THIS SERVICE THEY DO NOT PROVIDE THE PROPER SERVICES NEEDED FOR OUR CHILDREN!!!!

I absolutely loved them at the beginning of our services when we had one specific OT for my son. Unfortunately for us but great for her, she found a better opportunity. Ever since then though I’ve had issue after issue with the workers. There’s no constant with workers. They have changed over so many times and due to that it’s effecting my son, not in a good way. I’ve been talked down to, and treated like I don’t know what toddlers do, or that I’m just naive, when mind you, this is my 5th child. So when I have a concern of my son doing something it’s quite clear it’s a genuine concern. I’ve also been versed in autism. My son being autistic and has SPD. I know kinda the gist of how autism can be. Or look. Again still being treated like I don’t know what I am doing. They aren’t here to teach me parenting. They are here to help me guide my son to help him be able to eat normal foods, and to get him to his milestones he should be at. Not to teach me on how kids are. I already know how kids are. I’m beyond upset. I’m calling management and will be requesting to leave this program and will be searching for another. I’m fed up with how I’m treated and how it’s quite clear they don’t listen to my concerns at all.
