Because You Can

A stroke left me with aphasia, apraxia and dysarthria. In 3 1/2 short weeks Dr Ferreira helped me immensely. She was very knowledgeable, patient, personable, and professional. She was just what I needed to help me. She enunciated each word so that I could copy the proper way to speak it. So very glad she was able to see (And help) Me.

I'd first like to say Dr. Jen is wonderful. However, I've gone to appointments where no one has responded to texts once you arrived or has answered calls. I was driving over 30 minutes to see her. I emailed to ask about if I was at the right location or if I had the right number. The response I received was "sometimes we are in therapy sessions and are unable to answer the phone." Which I get, but I was calling during the time I was supposed to have therapy. No one followed up. Then I receive a text over a month ago that my upcoming appointments are being canceled due to unforeseen circumstances and they will reach out to reschedule the appointments. It's been over a month now. So I am now having to find another person in hopes that I can get the help that's needed. It's very disappointing since it's hard to find a speech therapist that helps adults in cognitive therapy.

Took my daughter for the summer; the teachers were great. However, administration was very disorganized in my opinion.

We’ve been with Because You Can for a little over three years, and I truly can’t say enough about the impact they’ve had on our son’s growth. Through Because You Can, we receive speech, occupational, and ABA therapy—and thanks to the amazing staff who have become like family, he’s made tremendous progress. He’s now talking, learning to regulate his emotions, and building real confidence. This summer, he has been attending their summer camp and absolutely loves it! It’s been such a joy watching him make new friends and have fun in such a supportive environment. Our family is beyond grateful for the care, dedication, and love this team brings every single day.

I love BYC. Ever since I went here after leaving my last school as a 6th grader, I've been able to see how smart I actually am! I never thought I would be good at ELA or social studies, but since I came here, I know how I learn and how to study. I hope to learn more and more at the amazing BYC.

Dr. Ferreira really knows her stuff! I had a swallowing and speech issue. When I first arrived she gave me a swallow test. I could only swallow 12 times per minute. Three weeks later I was able to swallow 40 times per minute. Not to mention my speech has drastically improved. It is a very intensive program and she warns you that in order to have success, you must practice at home. If you or a child is in need of therapy, look no further.

The team at BYC is quite simply THE BEST! The instructors and therapists have worked together to provide a specialized and safe learning environment for our son with special needs (autism, apraxia, and sensory processing disorder) through BYC Learn. Jen is absolutely brilliant and when we heard BYC was offering a school program we knew we wanted to be apart of it. We love that the half day provides our son with not only instruction time but also speech therapy, occupational therapy, and an incredible and fun music class!
