BEL Center

The BEL Center is a wonderful nurturing environment. When my son was diagnosed, I had no idea where to start looking for services to support him and his needs. We were on wait lists for out of state therapists to come to our home only to be disappointed for months that they couldn't locate someone, and then our prayers were answered. We received the news that this amazing little place in Brattleboro not only could offer services for our son but also had a spot for him. He has been attending for a little over a year and the transformation has been incredible. He can communicate his needs, he is no longer frustrated (I'm no longer frustrated in guessing his needs). The work the therapists, Jim and Michelle do is not easy and they are superb. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my child. They are truly like family and I will be forever grateful for having my son attend and given the opportunity to truly reach to his potential and not get lost in a system that is struggling to keep up. My wish would be that one day their facility can accommodate even larger populations of children with ASD so they can all benefit from their services. Southern VT (Vermont in general) is severely lacking in services and support for those with ASD and we need more places like The BEL Center and the loving and nurturing therapists and professionals they employ.

I just saw my friends nephew and I can't believe the change in him! He was able to say my name for the first time and ask me for French fries! He is having so much fun showing his cars! The Bel Center has been amazing for him!

The improvements I've seen in my neighbor's son since attending the Bel Center have been out of this world!

The BEL Center has proven to be the best decision we made for our child. They are dedicated professionals who have the best interest of their patients. Their efforts, patience and compassion shows in the way our child has been achieving monumental milestones. They truly care about the children that are in-trusted to their care. They are communicative and offer resources to support families. I am hopeful about my child’s future. The center has opened my eyes and allowed me to see how capable my child is. We are now a part of his world and the BEL center has opened the door for us to go through it.

My Grandson has been attending this school for over two years. The teachers are knowledgeable, patient, compassionate and completely dedicated. The student to teacher ratio is five teachers for five students which is just what he needs. He was non-verbal, would only eat two different foods, and had tantrums. He now has a pretty good vocabulary and can even put some sentences together. With their help and encouragement, he now eats a variety of meals. He can now almost dress himself and put his coat on by himself. He is meeting new milestones and no longer has tantrums. The school offers monthly meetings to parents, and are always available via text or email . He loves to go to school every morning! The Bel Center has really opened up the world to him. I am so grateful for all of the help he has received. They are wonderful and nothing but good experiences. He is a happy kid now, the change has been remarkable and I would highly recommend them. I'm sorry for writing such a long review but I do try to leave thorough, honest reviews.

My child has grown exponentially since attending the BEL Center. He has received services that the public school simply did not have the capacity to provide. He has been attending for over two years now and he calls me “mama” now — words I thought I would never hear. In addition to his improved speech (and many, many, other skills), he is a happier and more confident child. He looks forward to attending and has developed close bonds with all of the staff, and we, as a family, also feel so supported by them. I trust everyone at the BEL Center implicitly — they have more than earned it. It is my genuine hope that they continue their work long after my child ages out of their program. I will forever be thankful to Jim, Michelle, Luke, and everyone else who has been there for our family.
