I'm happy to provide a five-star review for the experiences I had at Birdsong Speech Therapy Associates in 2020-2021 following an accident in 2019. I was blessed to have Sarah K., MS, CCC-SLP as my examiner for a diagnostic evaluation. Her report was accurate, detailed and impressive. I appreciated her kind and caring personality and assistance through the process. She provided reasonable accommodations to help me through the evaluation, which I very much appreciated. She was trauma-informed and friendly. I was also blessed to get to do speech therapy with Diana M., MS, CCC-SLP. I really appreciated being able to work with Diana. I looked forward to seeing her and having her help me through all my speech and language challenges. I appreciated and valued her caring and friendly nature. Though it wasn't always easy, I'm grateful I had such a nice professional to be there for me during that challenging time. I appreciated Diana as she was trauma-informed and honored diversity. Here is an amazing brain injury recovery community resource that is not widely known about. After an accident, where I incurred a concussion, other than physical therapy, I could find no medical services for adult recovery from the continued affects of my concussion. My lawyer recommended Birdsong, and it changed my life for the better! I worked with Diana, and immediately felt like I could make improvements in my thought processes. She worked tirelessly, and often longer than my designated appointment time to diagnose, explain, and come up with working strategies for my recovery. My time at Birdsong Speech Therapy was invaluable to my complete recovery. I highly recommend them for their knowledge and skill set in helping people with brain injuries to make improvements through cognitive work. My teenaged son has been seeing Hannah Embry at Birdsong a little over a year for social skills. The changes in him have been remarkable, from avoiding people whenever possible to having comfortable, typical interactions, even with strangers. Hannah and my son work together in her office, but as time has gone on he also has worked with the other SLPs there and occasionally interns from UO, just to get some practice interacting with different people. She has even taken him to nearby stores and restaurants so he could practice asking questions and ordering food in real-life situations. A few months in to their work together, my son became frustrated with the kind of work they were doing together, but Hannah met with my son and me and the three of us came up with a plan that worked for all of us. Hannah was patient and thoughtful enough to change the way she and my son worked together so he could continue with his work and make real progress. Birdsong has made a huge difference for my son, giving him a foundation to build on as he grows up.

We have had the pleasure of working with Hannah Embry at Birdsong Speech Therapy for close to 3 years with our son. Hannah keeps our son engaged and makes speech therapy fun for him. She is always thinking ahead and implementing new ideas and strategies. Our son looks forward to seeing her every week. Hannah checks in on how things are going at home and school and is always helping us solve problems and fill in gaps. When we first met Hannah our son only said a few single words. He now speaks in full sentences and we are working refining sounds. Hannah is helping him with expressing his thoughts and working on social interactions. We are very thankful for our time with Hannah.

The SLPs at Birdsong are professional and caring! It is a great environment too! My son has primarily worked with Hannah for two years, and he genuinely looks forward to speech sessions. His sessions are productive and engaging. I really appreciate the feedback for ideas to support language skills at home and often there's an extension activity that we can do at home. I would drive across town to make sure my son could continue his care at Birdsong Speech Therapy, especially because of the individualized plan and care from Hannah. I would highly recommend Birdsong Speech Therapy.

My son has been working with Hannah, one of the speech therapists at Birdsong, and he has been showing some amazing improvements! He loves working with her and looks forward to his "speech" days. I really appreciate how the sessions are focused on making it fun for my son to improve his sounds and work on his social skills. Hannah gives us great feedback and ideas on how we can encourage our son to slow down and concentrate on articulating the correct sounds at home. She has even given us ideas on how we can help model social interactions for use with his peers and other adults. Birdsong has a great office that is comfortable and has a wide variety of activities and toys that the speech therapists can draw from. Also, they take insurance which is awesome! Highly recommend them for anyone with children who might need help with their speech or social skills!
