Really wonderful program! PEERS should be taught in schools. My 22 year old son was initially *very* reluctant to do this. Thankfully I was able to convince him to do the initial 1x1 consult with Dr. Chu where she was able to help him understand how the PEERS young adult program could support him. The 14 week program was well run. My son enjoyed the counselors who would work them every week and he also appreciated and ended up really caring for the other participants. Dr. Chu was able to create a safe space to learn these mysterious, hard social skills. These skills are broken down into simple manageable steps that students (and families) practice every week. We benefitted learning these skills as a family. This program is worth every cent.
I can’t recommend Dr Chu’s PEERS program enough. My son has participated in two of the programs. The programs are robust, grounded in science/evidence, and extremely well-planned in terms of content, and engagement with not only the student, but the parents and also the school teams. My husband and I came to appreciate two wonderful aspects of the program. First, we so valued a deep level of commitment and care for each of the kids. Dr Chu brings an expected level of seasoned experience on the social skills challenges faced by neurodiverse kids, while also understanding the unique dynamics of adolescence. She has such a direct, open, and supportive manner and ability to communicate and provide guidance to the kids AND the parents. She is part social/speech therapist, part guidance counselor. She provides so much wrap around emotional support, while delivering robust content to help our teen AND US. Second are the results and confidence gained by our son. He really enjoyed his PEERS sessions each week, and looked forward to them. As he grew up more across the course of the two programs he attended, he gained a more mature understanding of the value for the program and a real willingness to use the skills he learned in social settings, and take some social risks. He has come out of his shell and we are delighted to see him share and show his wonderful humor and personality with others. He has gained a greater appreciation for planning and hosting social get together with friends, and the success of these experiences has contributed to his increased confidence. We are so grateful for Dr Chu’s work and program. I hope to see her program grow and become available in many more locations, to many more kids. -Christine Bailey & Patrick O’Connor
My son attended a fall 2025 Peers social skills program. I highly recommend. My son's experience was positive. In his own words, He "learned things that were useful. Communication was always clear and concise. They did a good job teaching in ways that was not condescending or made me feel patronized"
I would like to thanks BOSTON PEERS for the master classes we had, our non profit organization FONDATION LES ANGES DU CIEL benefit from free master classes to reinforce our skills and knowledge, on how to take care of students with autism in classroom. We also talk of sexuality of students with autism ,thank you Dr CHU
This class was such a gift for our teen. The environment was relaxed, fun and supportive. The instructors truly understand teens who struggle socially and meet them where they are, no pressure just steady encouragement. The lessons are practical, relatable and relevant to what teens encounter in their daily lives. I highly recommend for any parent looking for a supportive, thoughtful and genuinely effective social skills class for their teen.
I can't stress enough about the positive impact the PEER'S Program with Dr. Chu has benefited my son. The step by step social skill program not only helped him understand how to successfully engage with his peers, but how to disengage in a positive way as well. I wish this program was implemented in every school for all children to benefit from.
If I could leave 10 stars I would. My child completed the toddler social skills program and the experience has dramatically improved their ability to communicate and interact with peers and caregivers. Dr Jenny and her team are professional, compassionate and committed to helping families. With my child’s increased ability to understand social situations we have seen improvements in behaviors at home and at school. My child is more able to participate fully in his classroom. Their relationships are growing and flourishing in ways I would have never thought possible for us. I highly recommend working with Boston Peers if you have a neurodiverse child.
It explicitly teaches how to socialize including phone calls, disagreements and gives scripts so it can become second nature. Dr. Chu is also amazing at collaborating with the school and outside providers and also making connections for your teen!
The program at Boston PEERS has been absolutely life changing for my son and our family! This is by far the most impactful social skills program he has ever engaged in. Dr. Chu is dynamic and incredibly dedicated to helping youth and families make progress. My highest recommendation!
Dr. Chu is kind, warm, engaging, and knowledgeable. She and her team do a wonderful job helping teens and young adults with social skills. We’re so pleased with the program and grateful for the opportunity to participate!
