We were a family who greatly needed help and did not know where to turn, but we did not want to turn to medicine until we had exhausted all other options. Had we gone to the doctor, they would have put our kid on meds. Brain Balance was recommended to us from a neighbor who had a successful completion of the program, and we went to the Center for an assessment. The staff are kind and were dedicated to helping our child be all that they could be. Their program was effective, and our child has grown tremendously in the six months our child has been using this program. The staff was always available for questions and available to give support whenever we needed it. We cannot recommend Brain Balance enough, but please hear me when I say this: you, the parent, need to be 100% committed to doing your part for the sake of your child. Yes, the staff at the Center will help you in every way they can, but the Staff cannot be at your house when you lead your child to do the exercises at home that they prescribe for your child. If you only drop your kid off a few days per week at the Center and do nothing at home the other 4-5 days of the week, then don't expect the program to be as effective. But, for the sake of your child, commit to supporting your child by doing the program at home on the days when you need to lead them during the at-home exercises. We are in the referral system for Brain Balance. So, if you would like to talk more over the phone, please let the center know, and they will put us in touch. We would be happy to talk with you and share our experience.
We had an overwhelmingly positive experience with the incredible team at Brain Balance Norwalk! Our 7 year old son was in a rush to do EVERYTHING; his left brain was firing on all cylinders but he really struggled to slow things down, listen and think before he acts. He rushed through his work in school and struggled with simple tasks - not because of his motor skills but because he didn't have the patience to sit and listen to directions. In the very beginning of the program last winter, my son learned about proper nutrition and became an activist not only about avoiding excess sugar and additives in his own diet but also in the diets of everyone around him. That in and of itself was a life changing experience BUT the other priceless info to our family was the concept of retained primitive reflexes and how targeted OT exercises could integrate those reflexes. We did our own extensive research on retained primitive reflexes before enrolling and got excited about addressing the root causes of his problems instead of trying medication to fix the symptoms. Our son is an athlete and loves puzzles so he naturally LOVED his time in the Brain Balance Center and is so sad that it's now over. Within a few weeks of starting, we noticed a more general calm about him and he was able to sit and listen for longer and give more thoughtful responses and he started noticing new sounds around him - background noises; people chewing etc. His teachers who had previously flagged that he can't stay in his personal space and touches everything around him noticed that he was less sensory seeking and that the kids in the class were really starting to understand him better, laugh at his jokes and were developing deeper friendship bonds with him! After a few more weeks, we noticed that in sports even though he's young for his grade, he was excelling at ladder skills and physical challenges that require THOUGHT. When it got warm outside we broke out his bike and took off the training wheels because even though he struggled immensely with balance in the fall, I had a hunch that with all of his targeted brain balance exercises that he'd be able to figure it out and sure enough, he cracked the code and started riding without training wheels! While it was amazing to watch him take off and ride a mile without training wheels on our first day out, watching him not give up until he cracked the code and slowing down to think the process through was even more amazing. This was a child that a few months earlier couldn't put on a sock or a glove properly because he couldn't bother to slow down and look at the clothing article before he put it on. This spring his soccer coach noticed a big improvement in his general skills and this summer he cracked the code on swimming on our 2nd day in the pool! We wound up doing 4 months of sessions at the Norwalk center and are 3 months into our home only regiment. Recent improvements include his ability to slow down while reading out loud (so that the listener can understand what he's saying) and he's expressing his gratitude much more frequently. He hasn't had a huge meltdown since starting the program which I think is largely tied to his change in diet. As a 7 year old boy, he certainly gets upset about things from time to time but he's upset far less these days and when he is upset it doesn't last as long and he expresses himself in a very rational way. The current goals we're working on include longer engagement in conversations, giving more context when talking and taking the time to process more thoughts when reading long stories but as we've seen dramatic improvement in these areas already we're optimistic that growth will continue to follow. We're incredibly thankful to have found Brain Balance and highly recommend the program!!
Our son was really struggling with school related anxiety at the beginning of the school year. He was having a lot of trouble getting to class. The suggestions the school was making didn't make much sense to us (meds or an IOP), so we started looking for other options. We learned about Brain Balance from some friends who had children that had completed the course and decided to give it a shot. We're glad we did! Our son is now attending all of his classes and working independently on his homework. His organization has improved. Overall, he is a more confident kid that is taking pride in his work. We would definitely recommend Brain Balance to anyone who is struggling with anxiety or school avoidance.

In the beginning of this year my 7-year-old son was having troubles including night terrors, emotional cooping, trouble focusing in school, and his behavior was uncontrollable. Almost every day I would have to go and pick him up from school because of his behavior and the school was threatening to out place him. My wife and I tried a few different things, and nothing was helping him with what he was going through. I heard about BB on the Joe Rogan podcast and decided to investigate it. We meet with Dr. G for a consultation and decided to move forward with his recommendation. After just a few sessions we started to see the difference. We also followed the doctors at home changes, such as diet, large reduction in screen time, increased outside play, daily exercise, and constantly trying to boost his self-esteem. Every week we saw improvements and immediately his night terrors stopped with the change to his diet (dairy). Today 6 months later he is fully integrated back into his classroom with daily positive feedback from his teacher, plays on a football team, hocky team, and does jiu-jitsu. We are no longer living in fear of his behavior. BB has helped our family threw the hardest time.
Brain Balance is a fantastic program that REALLY works to help all kinds of brain related issues such as focus, behavior, social skills, anxiety, and academic performance. Of course people are going to be skeptical about something that’s still “new” compared to medication, which people are used to and is more of an easy “quick fix”. As someone who didn’t want to medicate my 5 year old son for the rest of his life, let me tell you, this program is absolutely the real deal! We recently completed the program and our son has changed in so many amazing ways! Before Brain Balance, I was feeling hopeless a lot of the time with my son. I’m sure a lot of parents feel this way with hyperactive, impulsive, emotionally dysfunctional children… it’s exhausting. School is a major challenge. It’s difficult to do “normal” things like playdates, birthday parties, restaurants, group sports; I never know what kind of mood he’s going to be in. He was diagnosed officially with ADHD at age 4, which comes along with a boatload of other issues; social development delays, speech delays, learning challenges, gross motor issues, etc. We were trying all the things that we thought we were supposed to do to help him; OT, PT, behavioral therapy, special diets, a developmental pediatrician, an IEP at school. These were all fine, but we were still struggling all the time with him. These were all just bandaids. A lot of work and a lot of money for very little results. I finally stumbled upon Brain Balance and started watching webinars and researching. It seemed too good to be true. How come I had never heard of this? How come no doctors or therapists had recommended this? Well the answer is… I still don’t know why. After going through the program, my husband and I are BLOWN AWAY. The Norwalk, CT location is run by a neurologist, Dr. Goldenberg, who is very passionate about Brain Balance. The coaches and the director Sam that worked with our son are literally angels from heaven. This is not like going to a doctor’s office, this is very warm and personal experience with lots of communication and support. I got to be very involved throughout the whole process. Alot of work goes into this for both the child and the parents. There are exercises to do at home as well, which can be challenging. But a few months of this is SO WORTH IT to give our son the best life possible. It was fascinating to watch the different stages of change that his brain went through, and we’re continuing to see positive changes even after he has finished the program. Here’s a few of the major changes we have seen in him since graduating BB: - Much calmer demeanor - Snuggles stuffed animals and cuddles with us (never did this ever, even when he was a baby) - Answers questions and follows directions without being asked 5 times - Understands his emotions and emotions of others more - Actually learns things at school and tells me about them - Asks specific, detailed questions about things we do, read and watch. - Plays together with other children, making real friends and social connections - Doesn’t get hurt all the time due to not paying attention We feel so lucky to have found BB and we are so thankful that we took the plunge and went for it! We can finally see our son’s true personality shine. He’s still the same silly, energetic 6 year old boy and he still has his tough moments of course; he’s just the best version of himself now. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him!
My 10 year old son has ADHD. In 2nd and 3rd grades he began struggling with focus and attentional issues at school, and subsequently began to lose his motivation and love of learning. We had already met with our school and had various accommodations in place, but they weren't really making a huge impact. I began researching the brain in an effort to more fully understand ADHD and determine how to best help my son, and we found Brain Balance. We decided to try it in an effort to help him without the use of medication, if possible. I was a bit skeptical at first, but after meeting with Dr. G. we decided to give it a shot. I am so glad we did! 8 months later, what a difference. My son's ability to sustain focus at school and in his homework has improved. His reports from his teachers, his grades and test scores have also improved, quite dramatically. Most importantly, he is excited about his progress at school–he is proud. He's much more organized, proactive, independent and enthusiastic, and sets goals for himself in his academics and his sports. His attitude towards trying new things has really changed–he is less anxious and more willing to go outside his comfort zone. He has always been athletic, but in recent months his coaches and trainers have noticed a marked change in his attitude, his positivity, how he listens, his competitive spirit and willingness to push himself and try his very best. My son still exhibits some of the behaviors associated with ADHD, but going through the Brain Balance program has helped so much! The motivation and pride he now has at school and in his sports was a huge transformation for us. Dr. G and the entire staff at Brain Balance are caring, supportive and professional. It was definitely a time commitment, but my son really enjoyed going to the center. The Brain Balance program really helped my son and our family–and my hope is that more families with ADHD and other diagnoses will try this protocol as well.
