Brain Balance of Woodbury

I had an evaluation at a (now closed) Brain Balance center when I was 17 years old because my mom thought I had auditory processing disorder. The center said I was behind in virtually every category, ranging in some cases from the level of an 8-year-old to at least a few years behind my age. Never mind the fact that I was already in college, tested into an advanced math class, and my English professor had asked my permission to use one of my papers as an example in future classes. Or the fact that I consistently scored at college-level on standardized tests for my entire high school years. They wanted $12,000 to put me through their program. We did not end up doing the program because the college’s accommodations center would not accept their “diagnoses”- they asked for me to be diagnosed by an audiologist. Lo and behold, the audiologist found my auditory processing to be completely normal. Nevertheless, the entire experience destroyed my self-esteem and left me depressed for a while. I eventually graduated magna cum laude with my Bachelor’s in Chemistry, and was told by a professor that my capstone research paper “set the bar” for the rest of the class. I’m sharing my experience to let parents know not to search for a diagnosis- trust your child’s ability, and always be in their corner. An expensive, pseudoscience program is not necessarily the answer.

We have been part of the Brain Balance program since June of 2025. Our 9year old son had all of his primitive reflexes still in tact due to various traumas. Along with autism, he has adhd and anxiety. School has been challenging and filled with lots of arguing eith teachers. His handwriting was at kindergarten level, big and chunky. At home he could not follow two step directions. Working daily over the summer (3 days at the center and 4 days at home) made an incredible difference in school! With only minimal handwriting practice over the summer, his handwriting drastically improved; appropriately sized and spaced, spelling much better and able to write more quickly. His focus has MUCH improved in school and arguing is minimal. His ability to follow two step directions is much improved at home, still challenging only when he is spacing out. His confidence in his capabilities and his body movements has greatly increased. He joined a local football team and surprised us all with his capabilities. He was able to do the cross-body movements and other drills that he normally wouldn’t be able to understand. He was able to follow the coaches directions most of the time—being able to tune out the extra commotions. We are greatly pleased and impressed with the program. Doing it at home has been vital and busy weeks that we can’t get to it, it shows in his attitude and work. So we keep working hard to do the work! We all (my son included) love it and are SO grateful for it!

Everyone here are very supportive, positive and caring. We can see positive growth out of our son every week, we can't thank them enough for all their help. We have learned a lot threw the lessons also.

We've been at Brain Balance since January and we have been blown away by not only our daughter progress and success but by the staff. They're wonderful to my daughter and accommodating to our ever changing schedule. Brain Balance has truly changed our daughters life, she is now much more confident in life, sports and school. We saw amazing progress and success in her reading and math skills, as well as in hockey and other sports. We cannot recommend Braine Balance enough to everyone!

I can’t begin to tell you how this program has changed my daughter’s life. I have been advocating for my daughter since Kindergarten and continued to watch her struggle in school the last few years. As a mom, I knew she was processing things and learning different from other children. She was diagnosed with dyslexia after we went and had her evaluated. I found the Brain Balance Program after reading the book Disconnected Kids and connected with the Woodbury location shortly after. I am glad we did. This program is intense, but worth it. I knew when we started I needed to be dedicated to this program as much as the staff were dedicated to helping us. I love that this program is directed to not only the brain and body, but also the nutrition piece, which we have found to be extremely beneficial in working with our daughter. Brain Balance of Woodbury has dedicated staff. Wonderful communication throughout the program. They have helped accommodate our busy schedule as well, trying to balance our busy family life and attending programming three times a week. My daughter has loved the coaches she has worked with and has always been excited to attend her sessions. The biggest part was the improvements we saw within our daughter since starting Brain Balance. She struggled in school. She was in 3rd grade and reading at a 1st grade level. I was watching her confidence and self-esteem diminish. She did not like to read because of this. She did not like school because she was easily distracted and couldn’t concentrate. She started seeing behavior issues because of these struggles. Within a few short months, we saw her self-esteem and confidence grow. She was reading us books and her teacher indicated at conferences that she is doing well and has shown great improvements. We have seen less behavior issues. This would have not happened without Brain Balance and we are thankful for this program and their amazing staff.

After years of trying different techniques and advice from various people, our son who is now in 3rd grade was still falling behind in his reading! He had a hard time staying focused in class and started to lose a bit of self confidence. A friend suggested us to look into Brain Balance! The program was very intriguing to us so we decided to have our son assessed by them. We liked the holistic approach they had with improving your child’s “issues”! Our son is almost halfway through the program and his improvements in school and in social settings have been amazing!
