Maria Stephens is the absolute best therapist we have ever seen. We have been taking our daughter to her for over 4 months every week and we have never seen so much improvement with her feeding and over all development. We have been through very difficult times with our daughters eating issues, gut issues, allergies and development and Maria has been the true constant in all of it for all the success we have had. We are so thankful for Maria and recommend her to everyone and anyone that we speak to about our daughter!

Maria was awesome! Not only was she able to diagnose my daughter's tongue tie, she was able to provide supporting exercises to make sure she gained proper tongue mobility and function. She took the time to be very clear on my homework and what progress I should see. I also appreciate that she didn't keep me longer than necessary. Once she saw my daughter had made the proper progress, we were able to "graduate". I never thought OT would be necessary for a tongue tie revision, but now I can't recommend it enough to set your baby up for success!

My daughter started coming to Carolina Kinder Development around 6 months for a cranial band and also received physical therapy for about a year. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the whole team. Everyone was so kind, supportive and an expert in what they do. Can’t recommend enough!

We have been going to Carolina Kinder Development for about six months and everyone there has been so kind and positive. Maria is terrific and does a great job of really focusing in on the questions we have and the updates we share between sessions for our child. She is wonderful with our child and clearly explains everything she is doing during the session. She also provides great recommendations as far as development aides and gives us really great exercises to work on with our child in between trips. I would highly recommend her, but I would also feel confident with any one of the other therapists based on the passion i have seen in them.

I cannot express enough gratitude for the incredible experience we had with Carolina Kinder Development. From the very first session, it was clear that our therapist Maria was both professional and extremely compassionate for our situation. She always made me feel heard and supported during our sessions Maria was exceptionally knowledgeable and patient, tailoring each session to meet our needs that week. The progress we’ve seen the last few months is remarkable. Maria provided us with practical exercises to practice at home, new ideas of foods to try and goals for the time between sessions. The facility is welcoming and beautifully engaging for kids. Scheduling appointments was always easy, and the staff was accommodating and friendly. Overall, Maria at Carolina Kinder Development has made a profound impact on our child’s development as well as myself, and we highly recommend her services to anyone in need of occupational therapy. My son has been seeing Maria at CKD for feeding & occupational therapy since he was about 7 weeks old. He was born with tongue and lip ties and (because it’s all connected!) he was taking his time reaching other physical milestones like rolling over and sitting up. Maria is THE expert in Charlotte when it comes to feeding therapy for babies. And she gets results! She recommended great exercises to get his oral motor skills and body skills developed, helped with selecting bottles, pacifiers, toys, utensils and straw cups that would best help his development. Her approach is practical, kind, and results oriented and her calendar is a testament to how in demand she is. She will come in early, stay late, and work through her lunch to make sure she has time for babies who need her. My son is now 8 months old, exclusively breastfed at home, and getting the hang of solids so we will be graduating from therapy soon! The office on Caswell is homey (although the driveway makes me nervous). The office staff is always very nice and professional as well. So happy I found CKD!
