I brought my teen here for a severe specific phobia. It took quite a while, but my child made tremendous progress and was able to complete a difficult task that involved her phobia. There isn’t much help out there for these really impactful issues. Years of previous therapy had done nothing. The program didn’t accept insurance, so it was self-pay, and not inexpensive. However, we were able to be reimbursed by our insurance company, after some pressing. There was about a six-month wait for treatment, and it was a somewhat lengthy process. That said, it made a world of difference for my child, and was certainly worth the wait. Particularly since the alternative was crippling fear and anxiety. It’s not a magic pill. They can’t just make all the bad stuff go away, and they are not a facility for those in acute, immediate distress. It’s just not the place for that. It takes a lot of hard work and determination on the part of the patient to make progress, like any CBT. I hope that what they are finding to be effective treatment for these disorders makes into common mainstream practice. In my book, it’s better to help those you can than to help no one at all. From what I’ve seen, that’s what they do here. A lot of reviews here aren’t based on the effectiveness of the program itself, but are sour grapes that the individual wasn’t one of those the program could accept.

I contacted The Center for Anxiety to inquire about getting help for my daughter who suffers from Panic Disorder. I spoke with Bonnie Brown, the intake nurse who was AMAZING!!!!! While the center does not take insurance so it was not an option for us, Bonnie took time out of her busy day to provide additional information to aid in my search. I even called her again a month later for more help. This is the first place that actually listened to my concerns and offered up information to help.

If their intake process is any indication of how this organization is run, I would avoid this center at all costs. After filling out paperwork and then rehashing concerns for my little one for over 20 minutes, they nonchalantly shared that the program was not a good fit. The delivery of this information was so cold and scripted, it was awful! They should do a better job training their screeners as they are the first contact person and parents and individuals are going through a hard time to begin with!

I went through the program at CARD recently and found it to be one of the best experiences and things I have ever done for myself. I have lived with anxiety almost my whole life and sometimes it was crippling. This programs and the clinicians here were outstanding in teaching me the tools to work with my anxiety and be more productive and a better version of myself. I use the tools they taught me daily and I am a better person for having went through this program. I highly recommend it.

I had such a great experience at CARD. I had a lifelong medical phobia and I was so scared to even go in for the intake. I had anxiety for a week beforehand even though I knew the intake wouldn't even begin the treatment. They were so kind and put me at ease and were very sensitive to my anxiety. Exposure therapy sounded really scary, but it wasn't! By the time we did the exposures I was ready to handle them with the help of my counselor. I saw a student in training and she was absolutely wonderful! Reasonable fees as well based on income and the credential of who you see there. After about 20 sessions I was cured and am still cured almost two years later. I used to have severe fainting responses from even hearing people talk about any medical thing. I even got a concussion from fainting which is what made me seek help at CARD. Now it's not just that I can cope better with medical situations -- they just do not bother me at all! I was able to take my daughter to get her ears pierced and help take care of my husband after a minor surgery (both during my treatment at CARD) and those things were on my "never can do this" list. Today I got my COVID vaccine with zero anxiety before or after, and I also didn't have to fear fainting in a room with a LOT of other people. THANK YOU, CARD!!!
