Very Rude and abusive
This place is terrible. I had to cancel an appointment last week do to a medical situation and today Wednesday 8/13 Dr. Botrus wasted 30mins of my session to bagger me on why I can't cancel an appointment. I tried to explain over and over again I had physical medical issue that was serious and needed to get it taken care of asap with my pcp. This place charges a $100 cancelation fee even for medical issues. This facility is money hungry and does not care about their patients. When I called today 8/13 to be removed from further appointments I was told it needed approval. I explained that as of today 8/13 I am no longer a patient there and to NOT charge me for this waste of time appointment because it was 100% unfair to waste my session on why I canceled when I already explained this last week. I would not recommend this facility to anyone ever! Very disappointing experience.
I've used this practice several times over several years. I'd always been satisfied with my care However, I'm currently in treatment with a different practice for severe Postpartum anxiety and intrusive thoughts that went unchecked and worsened over a 6mth period. I was denied treatment when I asked for help when I started noticing the anxiety coming in. I was also dealing with my grandfather who was like a father to me, dying of cancer. I was told it was all normal parent and life stuff and I didn't need help. Because I have anxiety and am rejection sensitive I struggle to tell people I disagree. What's now happened is I cry when my son eats because I am panic stricken that he is going to choke. I am being seen because my OBGYN referred me because I was crying in the office. I was trying not to get to this level. I struggled through the loss of my grandfather and just spiraled for 6mths telling myself it was normal when it wasn't. I feel utterly let down and pushed out. But feel optimistic about finally getting the help I so badly needed 6mths ago.
A few years ago I attended this practice as a patient of Dr. Mcfillin’s… and I can proudly say he saved my life. The program is very intense with homework and tracking your behavior patterns, but holy wow does it make things finally click. I have been in and out of therapy since I was 13, and he’s the first one who ever undid all the brainwashing and trauma. The longer I’m out of the program, I find the more of his teachings I naturally apply to my life. 3 years later I still reflect on my binder notes from class. And this is without even completing the program due to a dangerous home life situation I was in which made me have to move… If I lived closer, I’d go through the program again just to completely get it down right and finish what I started. Thank you for everything doc.. Put the time and work in, to save yourself. You deserve that much. And don’t be scared off by bad reviews talking about not wanting you to be medicated. Medication is a bandaid to a much deeper seeded issue, which needs to be treated first. That’s all the doctors here are trying to get at. God bless!
I absolutely loved my therapist, but it happens more than a few times where appointments were made at a time, but I did not agree with and when I didn’t make that appointment over $100 was charged to me every time it’s really sad because they do have really good therapists. I did explain that there was no way I would’ve accepted an appointment at that time, but I was told there’s nothing that they can do. It’s really sad because they do have really good therapist, but the therapy is being overshadowed by this greed truthfully. This need to charge patients astronomical prices for missed appointments that were not their fault. If I were to schedule an appointment and miss it, that’s on me totally! But that is not what happened. I did explain the couple times that it happened, but there was no way I would’ve scheduled an appointment at that time because I work during that time but every time I was told there’s nothing they can do. I’ve spent over $300 on missed appointments that were not my fault. Thankfully, there are other good therapists in the area who treat their patients much better :)
DO NOT COME HERE!!! Please do your research (especially on Twitter) before coming here. Dr. McFillin has made his stances on Medication and diagnoses very clear. He believes that ADHD, Depression, DMDD, all of it isn’t real. He compared stimulants taken for ADHD to Opioids. I’m happy to have left before the DBT program started. McFillin said I had to stop taking all of my meds to even be in said program. Don’t let their therapists manipulate you like they did with me. I opened up and even began to trust Rizmand Ahmed who I soon learned also pushed anti big pharma. I 100% believe this program needs to be investigated as well as called out. “Dr” McFillin… you’re wrong on so many levels. I suggest you get some help. Attached below are some of the tweets he has made.
