Great office. Treats kids well.
First, I demand that someone from the administration contact me immediately! I'm a psychiatrist myself (an adult) and find their attitude toward my child's illness unacceptable! Second, I'll tell you what we encountered at this supposedly "best" hospital. When we first called, we were told to wait 1 to 3 months. When more than 3 months passed and no one called, we called ourselves and were told to wait 6 months. We waited 6. But again, no one called us, and as a doctor, I began to investigate, and then we were told to come back in a month. Okay. Full of hope, we went. My child is 6 years old and has fairly severe ADHD and elements of OCD. I explained all this to the doctor for an hour and a half, describing the severity of his symptoms. Oh, yes, after a 7-month wait, we were assigned a doctor who was a student who hadn't even completed his training. Should I experiment on my child?? The doctor asked ME for a diagnosis instead of making one himself. Okay. I told him the diagnosis. All that's left is to get treatment from him. But he didn't give us that either! We were referred to behavioral therapy after another 1.5 months of waiting! Dear doctor, colleague, please tell me: when brain biochemistry is disrupted, can behavioral therapy alone be enough, or is it necessary to prescribe adequate treatment for a child with quite severe symptoms?! Do you also treat schizophrenia with behavioral therapy? Are you telling the person they simply shouldn't have hallucinations? Will your therapy be effective? So, I've secured a follow-up appointment, and if adequate treatment isn't prescribed, I'll take it to the next level.
Had an appointment with Behavior coordinated for almost 2 months. Took off work, traveled an hour to the onsite appointment, Kelsey Hunter didn’t have it on her calendar. Apologized and tried to fit me in the following week. Not so easy for me to get off work. Asked to speak to supervisor. Not onsite, will call you tomorrow. That was 4 days ago. Adolescent psychologist great, behavioral team, TERRIBLE. Do NOT recommend.
Love it
Never have opening for new patients.. and don’t have a waiting list for their behavioral and developmental programs even tho my daughter nurses and doctors keep telling me they should..
Every time my son is having a serious issue we leave messages and no one responds. No call back, nothing. Not even a nurse. Right now he needs help and it is a Friday night. It’s been days.
I completely understand how CHOP can be a very popular place for care due to being a highly reputable group. What I don’t get is how for an entire year each time I have called to see if they take in new patients because the schools we have been to all ask for our son to get accessed early for adhd, this place is only place that can do it, never accepts new patients. It’s been an entire year, and they have no waiting lists nor give me a straight answer on when they accept new patients. How do I get my child the care he needs when everyone including us neurodivergent parents believe our son is neurodivergent and has been expressing development delays and lower than average impulse control; which has gotten him hurt or others hurt. I’m fearful that if he doesn’t get an iep sooner, he’s going to have more damage mentally through the school district we have him enrolled in for preschool. We need help now and CHOP needs to step up and at least give an option to a waitlist because “years” of not accepting patients is obnoxious. Do better
Horrible. We came to CHOP behavioral health seeking therapy services for our 4 year old child who had been diagnosed with anxiety and depression by CHOP previously. They put us through 4 months of waiting and assessments before telling us that they DO NOT PROVIDE THERAPY. They gave us two phone numbers for government services and sent us on our way. We did not succeed in getting therapy for our son through either of these phone numbers. Huge waste of time. Incredibly misleading.
Tell us what you're looking for and ABA Navigator will help connect your family with care.
