I have been with CODI for over 5 year! Finally made ONE mistake and now I get treated like I'm nothing! Sad very sad!

I've had a good experience with CODI. Currently Attendng the circle of security parenting class and I highly recommend the class to all parents! The facilitator is knowledgable and friendly as is the rest of the staff and front desk. They also have free coffee so that's always a plus :) the only complaint I have is the upper back parkinglot behind the building us a bit cramped. Still I like codi and give them 5 stars :) they have had a very positive impact on my and my sons life ♡♡♡

Amazing program and staff! This program was a blessing for my family. It is a commitment, but IT IS WORTH IT!! We are a very busy sports family that is always on the go. We made this our priority. It helped our family in so many ways. I could write a few page review, but will try and keep it short and simple. My family was struggling with a very defiant teen (she was lashing out, running away, experimenting with substance). We were recommended to attend the "Parenting with Love & Limits" (family skills training program). We signed up and after the initial intake, went twice a week for the length of the course. They do group therapy once a week (they provide dinner) with 5 other Families and once a week was just our family session. The family sessions were an hour. Both group and family sessions had a period of time with everyone then they would separate the kids / adults. It was an eye opener (and relief) to see that we were not the only family that was having struggles with their teen. We were all in the same boat, with similar stories, and similar hope. They opened our eyes to how our teens see/hear us, how we see/hear them and how to fix the communication gap. The teens were taught about substance abuse, effective coping skills and making safe choices. This program taught my family to communicate effectively and create a tighter bond. Heather and Michelle (lead both the group and family sessions) were GREAT, attentive and very genuine about helping our family. They helped us create a family plan that was custom to the issues that we were having. My only regret is that we didn't find the program sooner. Since we graduated from the program things have gotten so much better. I would HIGHLY recommend if your struggling with a teen. There is light at the end of the tunnel! My teens review is as follows "CODI is literally the only program that made me pull my head out of my a**, and stop fighting with you guys (parents)."

CODI provides an incredible resource to families in Alaska. Both parents and youth are provided with tools and techniques to aide in improved family interactions. We felt supported by staff and thoroughly enjoyed our time in the program. Our family learned to look forward to the time we would spend at CODI because we always left feeling empowered and more connected as a family. We would highly recommend this program to other families who are looking to improve family interactions and communication. CODI staff are awesome!

Shame on me for not writing this review sooner. Due to the nature of the matters CoDi is usually called in on, I cannot be as thorough as I would like in this review. Several years ago, we sought family counseling in a group setting through this outfit; meetings would begin with a dinner put on by CoDi, served buffet-style, families all sitting together. After eating, the kids would work in their own groups while the adults worked in theirs - then later we would all be reunited to work together. After a traumatic event, my children were finding peace in this routine. We had a number of challenges in our family that precluded us from being able attend the weekly meetings on occasion (work, school demands). We apparently missed one meeting too many, and as our 6 year old child was making her plate and our 3 and 9 year old were in line behind her, plates in hand, we were asked to leave because of our attendance and missing two classes back to back. We were drummed out of the building and made a spectacle of. And try as I might, so many years later, I cannot forget the look on my 6 year old’s face; it broke my heart then, and it breaks my heart now. We never went back. Emma was the staff member that told us to leave; she literally took the plate of food from my child’s hands and threw it in the trash in front of her. My blood still boils at the memory. NO organization that treats a family the way ours was humiliated is about “strengthening families”. WHAT A CROCK.
