Kiven Great Underpay; this one is for you and RN Flye (sorry if I spell your name wrong). I recently had a stay at Desert Parkway 700 unit, and I’m incredibly grateful for the care I received — especially from the nursing staff member Flye and the technician Kiven. From the very beginning, Flye showed genuine compassion and professionalism. She took the time to listen without judgment, made sure I understood my care plan, and consistently checked in on how I was feeling. Her calm presence and reassuring attitude made a difficult time feel much more manageable. It was clear that she truly cares about her patients and takes pride in providing thoughtful, respectful support. I also want to recognize something truly unique about Kiven — he’s a social butterfly in the very best sense of the word. His outgoing, approachable nature brought an incredible amount of positive energy to the 700 unit. He has a natural gift for connecting with people, whether through lighthearted conversations, thoughtful check-ins, or even a simple smile while passing by. He makes everyone feel seen. Truly, Kiven deserves a pay raise for how exceptional he is at what he does. He doesn’t just clock in and complete tasks — he takes ownership of his role. He shows up with intention, supports patients without hesitation, and helps create an atmosphere of safety and stability. His upbeat personality, combined with his steady and confident presence, makes people feel both protected and genuinely understood. Team members like Kiven are the foundation of a strong mental health facility. His dedication, resilience, and authentic care for others do not go unnoticed. He absolutely deserves recognition — and a well-earned raise. Mental health treatment can be an overwhelming experience, but having staff members like Flye and Kiven made a meaningful difference in my recovery journey. Their dedication, empathy, and professionalism did not go unnoticed. I’m deeply thankful for the care and support they provided.

I just was discharged from this hospital's inpatient program today. This is my tell-all experience as a hyper-verbal individual w/cptsd, autism, adhd, ocd, depression, severe anxiety, & attenuated psychosis. Due to my upbringing & adult-experiences, I have been going into episodes where I self-injure by hitting my thighs & head. My partner couldn't stop me, & once I get too desperate for the self-injuring to stop my mind turns to suicidal/homicidal thoughts. So my partner took me to this hospital. 1st, we waited in the lobby as I tried to hold myself together, but the wait was so long that I began self-injuring in the lobby. I tried asking for an update on how long it would take & was told 10 minutes. It was longer than that & I self-injured in public while waiting more than once. Next, we waited in a claustrophobic-inducing bare room with the door open. I tried expressing to the staff when I was escalating to the point of self-injuring again, & was told I would have to wait. Upon beginning to bang my own head against the wall a staff-member simply opened the door & said something along the lines of stop that. I continued to self-injure a lot in the room until finally I was given food, & the assessor came in. To me the assessor looked ill. Female-presenting, they looked like they had a bad rash on their face and also like they happened to endure a stroke in their life. Appearances aside, they couldn't hear my answers & I had to repeat myself for each question. As I tried to answer fully they would stop my response, promise to get back to it, and then move me onto a different question after finishing writing the part of my answer down that I was allowed to get out. I was checked in, & the staff that assessed my body for injuries were very friendly. They checked like 10× with me b4 cutting the string on my pants which allowed me to realize which string they were talking about & say no after I'd been saying yes repeatedly. There were good experiences amongst the traumatizing! I was put into ward 100. The 1st thing now that I can think of to report is that despite expressing that I was on my period, I was never given a single pad throughout my entire stay. I asked the day-staff three times for larger pants before giving up as socializing and expressing my needs is hard 4 me. My largest frustration was that the staff didn't tell me anything about the way things worked, so I asked my fellow patients. I was given a seneca cigarette several times a day during a smoke break. This jarred me, as I don't smoke cigarettes, but it was the only time I was allowed to be outside & I do smoke cannabis so it kept that routine feeling the same. The first thing I told my partner when I could was that I took up smoking cigarettes! Sounds like the opposite of healing. The snacks given are unhealthy chips, overly-processed granola bars, white sandwich bread with american cheese in it, etc...The three daily meals tried to be sufficient with the protein content, but the vegetables were lacking & the only fruit I can remember were canned pineapple. Throughout the first night I was able to get some sleep, & happily I woke up before another patient began screaming loudly. The screaming patient started several other patients to start yelling "bootyjuice her already," and later, "It's been over an hour, bootyjuice her or I'm gonna knock her out." Turns out the most angry patient was there for insomnia! The patients explained to me what “booty juice” was referring to, & they said it a lot during my stay in 100. Later, in 700, the patient I mentioned it to didn’t know what it was either. One patient in the 100 was struggling badly w/constipation due to repeatedly only having food they were allergic to to eat. The constipation had lasted over 2 days so I worried for their health, but the staff didn't seem concerned. Another patient suffered gout from the food. It damaged my psyche to have to watch & do nothing for their suffering.

It was okay, I went there and the food wasn’t as great and once i was out i was struggling to eat because i didn’t as much there. The food was FILLED with black pepper it was hard to eat. Saw a girl getting touched by a girl, i did ask if she’s okay and she said she was and didn’t want to cause any problems. Some of the workers has attitude saying some of the kids are annoying and does to much and i disliked that a lot because obviously their there for HELP, not to get judged at when they already are outside of the building. Some of the kids really did need support and i’m really glad i got to know them and wished them the best. This place can be better with better people working there.

This place does not help you. I went there forced and they took my clothes and lost them. Never got them back. The staff are rude. They cuss at you, disrespect you. And do not help you what so ever. You leave with worse mental health you you had before.

I was here on my birthday in June 2024. This place was exactly what I needed at the right time in my life. The staff was great, the food was good and they were accommodating to your food allergies. They always checked in on you at night and I came out with a diagnosis that helps to manage my symptoms. It was a breath of fresh air that I needed. I hope everyone can get the help they need for their mental health. The staff are trying to help you get the coping skills and medication to get you back into the world. Group classes were wonderful and make you realize everyone is going through their own struggles in life.

The video looks nice. But staff, caseworkers and Dr. need to be retrained for mental/behavior health patient. My daughter was released unstable from a medical hold into a uber without my knowledge and I was her emergency contact.

I understand everyone has a different experience than I had. I had a productive time spent here. staff was efficient, they made sure i was fed, taken care of, and always emphasis on my overall mental well-being.
