Discovery Mood & Anxiety Program

I am extremely dissatisfied with my experience at Discovery Mood and Anxiety Group. From the beginning, scheduling and coordination were disorganized, and there was no consistent follow-up or clear point of contact. I specifically asked about costs before starting services and was told there would be no charges. However, after I discontinued services due to lack of progress and worsening of my daughter’s condition, I received a bill. After multiple follow-ups and emails, a staff member admitted that incorrect information had been given to me and that this was their mistake. This lack of accountability caused me significant stress, especially because I received multiple calls and messages with a negative and unprofessional tone, implying I owed money and pressuring me to pay. Their system for tracking cases and communication is extremely poor, and it is unclear who is responsible for a client’s care. Moreover, there was no meaningful improvement in my daughter’s condition. Overall, this experience was highly unprofessional and ethically concerning.

The program itself was very helpful, but the billing department is very disorganized and will refund you, and then bill you for no logical reason.

If you want to be further traumatized, gas lit and lied to this is a great place

Discovery is great. I've enrolled in the program twice now, and the staff and community have consistently supported me. Feel like I actually have control over my life now. Definitely recommend.

This is not the place to send your kid if you have any desire to be updated as to what is going on or their plans. They are absolutely the worst at communicating anything to parents. It honestly feels like you're handing your kid off to a secret group and in 8 weeks you will get the call to come get them. In their care our kid was able to get a hold of a VAPE pen, other kids took CBD and another was sharing her prescriptions. You would assume that with the thousands of dollars a day that is charged they would have been able to keep an eye on such a small group. We received notification of this at 11pm and no further updates for 4 days. The therapy team experience was aweful, we were told by the therapist that she wouldn't review the case notes as she would only deal with our child in the here and now. Kid had been in hospitals and other residentials for over 6months, case notes would have provided insight. Our child left in no better head space than when she entered but was more emboldened than ever that things were just going to go her way. Therapist supported her move out of state and to not continue care here, so who knows what will happen now.

From intake through discharge, I’ve had wonderful experience with Discovery Mood and Anxiety as an adult. The Fairfax team is caring and dedicated, and throughout my time in IOP, I saw efforts to continually try to improve the patience experience. I was able to attend 3x week with my schedule and also received a financial waiver due to my specific circumstances, which made this program possible for me. I’m so grateful for the skills I’ve learned and I feel like I can fully participate in and enjoy my own life again.

I can not thank the staff at Discovery Mood and Anxiety enough for all they have done for our child. This program was instrumental in helping our child who was struggling. Everyone from the intake staff, therapists, director, etc. were wonderful to work with. I would recommend this program to anyone whose child needs the IOP/PHP level of support. I was hesitant sending my child here initially given the reviews on google, but it was the best environment for our child- supportive, caring, understanding, nonjudgmental.
