I really like both of the practitioners I see virtually out of the Bethesda office. However, the billing department is a mess, and is the reason for the 3 star review. I have been auto-charged on my credit card at seemingly random times, sometimes a few weeks after an appointment. They do not send receipts with a date of service, only the date you are auto-charged, so it is very difficult to keep track of what appointments you’ve been charged for. I have contacted the billing department numerous times, and have been assured repeatedly that someone would follow up. After repeatedly not hearing back, I took my credit card off my account with plans to pay manually so I can keep track of my appointment charges. However, I am somehow still being auto-charged. I contacted the billing department again, and was again assured that they would look into this and get back to me. Yet…another auto-charge today. It is difficult to trust a company that does this.

Already wrote this on the Key West Rockville location review board. But I'm writing the same review again here because Elissa is just that awesome. I started coming to Ellie Mental Health in September, and it has been nothing short of wonderful and supportive. Elissa is (obviously) a fantastic therapist and exactly who I needed to meet with. I'd hate to think where I would be without her help. Thank you for providing such top-tier therapy and healing.

This practice was very difficult to get accurate information/communication from. I had made an appointment for a month out, and took time to call and email THEM to make sure I had submitted everything I needed to, and that there would be no issues when it came time for my appointment. I got an email a week before, cancelling my appointment, because they don't see patients over 21 for what I was asking for. This information was not on their website, and each time I interacted with one of their representatives I was assured I could receive these services with no problems. Now I have to start my search all over again- which as you may know is especially difficult if you have mental health issues. I cannot recommend them for something as important as mental health services.

I see Chris Hawks for one-on-one talk therapy at the Ellie Mental Health office in Bethesda. First off, Chris is a great listener and a compassionate therapist. He helps me to unpack difficult issues I'm facing, and offers me insightful perspectives. He began his career as an attorney, then devoted himself to military service for many years. That work/life experience is reflected in his high level of professionalism and his dedication to helping others. If I share a story about a challenge I'm facing, I don't have to do a lot of explaining. He gets it. It can be hard to find a therapist who possesses all of those important qualities--intelligence, empathetic support, dedication and strong experience. So I feel fortunate to have found Chris and I enthusiastically recommend him.
