Switching from a therapist who may be able to empathize with me as someone who is autistic, anxious, traumatized, has chronic pain, with an eating disorder, to working with Kat from Facilitate Joy has been so life-changing in just a few months' time. The therapists here understand these things intimately because they live with some of these struggles too. Because of that, I have gotten such targeted advice that has already improved my quality of life, like giving a possible diagnosis direction to investigate the source of my pain (conditions that are typically correlated with neurodivergent people), to suggested paths of PT with someone who knows about this condition, to helping me navigate advocating for myself better in the doctor's offices to get the referrals I need, to helping me regulate my nervous system better. I will never go back to a regular therapist again. Although I wish I could use my insurance with them to lower my copay so I could go more regularly, working with Kat is well worth the money, and I can see that being the case long-term as well. She even sent me a sympathy card in the mail when I let her know that my beloved cat passed away (my registered emotional support animal of 12 years). You can tell immediately that the coaches here care about people as much as I do. They follow the golden rule. Thank you Kat and Cady!
When I found Facilitate Joy! my husband and I were utterly lost. We were barely surviving and trying to find out what end was up. We were tired and discouraged. I established connection with Cady and she gave of her time to connect with me and offer a little hope. Each conversation lead to a meaningful and intentional connection. She helped me establish a connection with a clinician who could provide diagnosis sensitively in manageable steps. We were given an Autism diagnosis for my 10 year old at the time and on the same day I was diagnosed with Autism. I was prepared by this point for a diagnosis for our daughter, but not at all prepared for a diagnosis of my own. From the point of accepting this diagnosis, Cady was there to support. She worked with us to establish a place in her neurodivergent community. She has monitored us closely and given us choice to help us find peace in our life. This has been through many small acts of kindness that she has seen us, heard us and given us a voice to sort out our parenting, our family and our marriage. We are gradually making progress together and we are grateful for the support she provides. We were all interested in improving as a family, but really needed her knowledge to break down how our brains are wired so we can collaborate better together to be stronger and more united.
Wonderful experience here. I feel this fills a gap left behind by standard therapy (CBT/DBT) being unfamiliar with AudHD clients. It helped me so much with challenges as a young adult, like navigating executive dysfunction, workplace dynamics, and helped foster a sense of community and belonging I didn’t realize I was missing out on. I don't feel as alone in my experiences. It's refreshing to participate in group coaching to spend time with other young adults facing the same challenges. Over time, I have made friends here by attending regularly and going to suggested social events on the newsletter, even though it's usually hard for me to make and keep friends. If you can't afford sessions, I'd highly recommend paying to attend the social events: they're so worth it. Please consider donating here if you are have the means. It makes such a difference in real neurodivergent lives. Because of FJ, I have overcome anxiety around ordering coffee, advocating for myself, understanding my own needs, and being outside alone. Now that these and other worries are managed, I have the time and skills to focus on the things that matter to me. If you are concerned about paying for FJ sessions, you could try to get it covered by applying for Vocational Rehabilitation.
This place helped me find community and support in ways better than I could ever imagine. I feel a lot less alone and my mental health has improved a lot and so has my social skills interacting with the other clients. The kind, helpful, and wonderful staff have made me feel welcome and have given me strategies to better myself and my social life. 5 out of 5 stars!
I’m a late ASD diagnosis. Facilitate joy has already helped me feel more comfortable taking off my mask. Moving with asd instead of against it was the key to acceptance and a relief from mental health caused by masking. Only been going to group here for a month, but enjoy hearing from others with asd to help me relate…
Honestly, where do I even begin. Before I started working with Facilitate Joy, I felt alone, like I would always be struggling and no one could understand the way my mind works. Cady is one of if not the most kind, honest and dedicated person you will ever meet. Through working with her I have not only been able to build a better link between the social world and the way my own mind works, but I have been able to connect and make friendships with others. Words cannot even express how wonderful this has been.
