It is difficult to find a clinic that does all of the ADHD/ASD testing in one day AND that accepts insurance - Forest Psychological Clinic does BOTH! My family member saw Dr. Virani and she is a gem. She is warm, compassionate, and intelligent. Highly recommend!

I’ve known Dr. James Thatcher since our graduate training over a decade ago, and he has always been an exceptional clinician. His ability to connect with children and teens, especially those with autism and ADHD. He uses a strengths-based, compassionate approach in therapy that helps kids feel understood, supported, and confident. Families in Portland are fortunate to have such a skilled child psychologist at Forest Psychological Clinic!

The good is that he can do all his Autism tests in one day and give you an answer quickly. So if it is a clear case it is a nice way to get it done. The bad is if you mask heavily, are an adult and can't remember a lot of obvious symptoms as a child, have a special interest that can be dismissed as a common passing interest, have friends, can make eye contact, and/or don't know what he needs to know and don't or can't communicate that to him, the result can be inaccurate. Since it all occurs in one day, at the end there isn't time to ask to talk more about the requirements before it is all done and the process moves on to writing the report.

The testing that Dr. Thatcher of Forest Psychological clinic did for us was thorough, in depth and complete. He and his staff were professional, but kind and made a difficult process as comfortable as possible. We had gotten testing before that was incomplete. This test was more complete than anything we had done before. We were told by the government agency we submitted the information to that the testing was thorough and it was what was needed. It got us the results that we needed, but no matter what, the information we gained was valuable to us as a family. We would highly recommend Dr. Thatcher at Forest Psychological Clinic. The knowledge and skill that was demonstrated was amazing and we are thankful they were recommended to us.

Such a wonderful experience from start to finish with Dr. Thatcher and Triston at the front desk! They were able to get us scheduled quickly which was really important for the stage of life we’re in. Triston was so communicative and friendly during the scheduling process, and really helpful! During our appt, Dr. Thatcher was professional, kind, thorough, and had a great sense of humor that definitely helped my daughter be at ease. It was a long appt and he made it fly! And lastly I received a very detailed and excellent report of our visit just a few days later, with great recommendations. Thank you so much for all your help and expertise, we will refer you to everyone we know!
