I love Genesis BC. My child has benefited tremendously from their services. The staff is always very helpful and supportive.
Just got this service recommended for our 4 year old daughter by her pediatrician and the first conversation with the onboarding rep was disgusting. I know the mental health care system as well as special education and the rep made wildly inaccurate generalizations about autism as well as assumptions of my child's situation and abilities. She also made recommendations with absolutely zero questions about my child. If i had taken their advice my daughter would have lost so much progress. I urge parents to research and do not blindly trust organizations such as this. A pro tip don't refer to a wide spectrum diagnosis such as autism as "all kids with retardation banging their heads against a wall". To this organization you should be ashamed for taking advantage of people who either don't know better or can't afford better, the latter is my situation.
I would have loved for my daughter to have an opportunity for therapy. However, we were told only children with Autism can get therapy at this facility. I'm grateful for our Autism community and know each individual deserves and needs the service. I just wish that same opportunity was available for my child with global delays and related disorders.
When the center first opened it was a great place and I saw a lot of progress. The therapists were well trained and supervised. But since the Covid pandemic, I’m not sure if the owner Linda is trying to cut corners, but therapists are only trained for 3 days before going out into the field where in the past they would be trained for 2 weeks. Their BCBA’s are quitting left and right along with their therapists, and I was told by one of them they quit due to the fact they were uncomfortable how the place is being run in an unethical manner. Priority is being given to children with certain insurances that give a higher payment for services. I’m guessing my insurance was not one of them because it’s been so difficult finding a consistent therapist for in home ABA, there have been absences every week since the start of 2021. I don’t trust this company to do what is right for the children anymore. I am grateful for the good therapists and BCBA’s who have helped my twins along the way and wanted to do right by them, but management is a huge problem with this company.
