My children were treated horribly by the principal and the evening transportation driver. The DR.McKinney and I had a conversation in which he was caught being deceitful and bad mouthing the Columbus police department. He was also deceitful in how he handled both of my special needs children and not communicating with me at all when I had questions about them. The teacher my son had after reaching her had tried to even apologize for how the DR. McKinney was acting. I did not feel like my children were safe. The evening van driver was very off putting and with myself and the kids teachers standing there made a remark slandering my children because my daughter was having an Autistic meltdown. Then the evening van driver would allow older kids in their teens to bully my 6 year old and my 8 year old while on the rides home ( even putting hands on them) and I had to find out from my kids what was happening to them. They were learning terrible things from the older kids on the van. The driver denied it ever happening when there was clear evidence that it was and my children wouldn’t lie about it. The driver was trying to get my son hurt at the daycare by telling them things my 6 year old said that he had learned while on the van but the driver refused to talk to me the entire time and I am the parent not the babysitter. I was so uncomfortable with the situation. These are modest details and only a few of the long list of things about my experience with this school. When everything was brought to the principals attention he tried to demonize my special needs kids (again ages 6 and 8) making them seem awful. The teachers were good and seemed to care for the kids but the owner/ principal absolutely does not care about the students. I was looking in to suing them. The experience I had there still affect me mentally to this day. I’ve never in my life had to deal with so many manipulative and dishonest people that worked with my kids. Also, the people that are giving 5 stars are paid individuals to make this scam of a school look better so they don’t get shut down. That day is coming.

Worse school ever if I would give it 0 stars If I could this school is the worst thing I ever seen they use restraint on students they don't let students call there parents when they need to and they hardly care about students emotional well beings I hope this school gets shut down for how horrible they treat these kids and never send your kid here if you love them

I remember when I used to go here. I got bullies quite a bit for being trans, but it wasn't nearly as bad as the school I was in before. The principal I knew at the time who yelled at everyone never yelled at me cuz I reminded him too much of his trans son. I'm glad I met the friends I did! Even though it wasn't the best of places to be especially because a kid did something to one of my friends and they played it off as "just his autism "... I'm glad I experienced getting my work done enough for a good grade. And I've finally graduated at a different school. I wouldn't be where I am now if it weren't for highlands.

First this school run off private scholarships for each student, gives unrealistic school hours so transportation must be outsourced by their personally owned company. The transportation company has 0 communication. They never picked my child up so far 3 times this year most recently resulting in him being home alone hours by himself at 8. The school also does not let you know hey your child never made it to school today, so when he called me at my neighbors to let me know no one ever picked him up (3 hrs into the school day) they did not even know at the front desk that he was not in class. The behavioral specialist are just as bad. My son has had multiple issues with elopement and complete break downs in the school no contact, no daily updates, no real information or feedback ever unless there is a huge crisis. My son has kids that are 5, 12 & 13 all in his classroom. (mind you he is 8 in 2nd grade so not sure how that is appropriate since he has now picked up cursing at school with the influence of older kids) I reached out to the owner last week requesting a phone call due to these serious issues. Today I was told my the new admin for elementary that I am to hard to please. (this is just days after taking it upon myself to contact the school every few hours to check on my child since the day i requested that call.) Seems like anyone that holds them accountable is ignored or acting like they are asking too much. I recently discovered this company owns not only the behavior school, the private transport company they have you use but a rehab center as well which i am guessing they set these kids up so poorly for success they take their Medicaid for treatment as an adult later on. 0 accountability from staff upper management or ownership.. poor communication with families.. not following iep updates... does not send home any incident reports.. has very low number of licensed teachers, basically will hire anyone with experience with kids as a BA regardless if they have worked in the environment due to having such a hard time to keep staff.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD TO THIS SCHOOL. my 7 year old was sent here due to behavioral issues and they’re suspending him once a week, mind you he has an IEP for this situation. They took it upon themselves to call a car got my son without my consent and sent him off. My son gets sent to daycare everyday after school, it’s like n their system. Instead they dropped my son off at my house with nobody there and left him for 30 mins by himself. Principle was not worried about it, had no remorse. Now we had to get cps and the police involved for a lawsuit. Please don’t send your kids here if you truly care about them. My son will be leaving this soon asap!

The school is okay I rate it a 6/10. Walls need painted and cleaner toilets but the staff is mid a great school to go. had a great Walk through when showed the school. Best class is science because you learn a lot of useful stuff. like you dont use other stuff learnd from other classes when you're an adult. Get a lot more help and they actually care for one another also lots support. It's hard a hard job to work and they was on the news for being really good. the boss man is really great and hard working.
