ICAN Children's Therapy

I'm sure ICan's therapy and services are great, but their billing practices feel... Like gibberish... If I am reading our insurance EOB, ICan's claim on the insurance, and the ICan patient portal correctly: It looks like we were 3x over-billed by ICan for an eval. It looks like we were charged $45 for an appointment cancelation, despite canceling outside of the 48 hour appointment window. It looks like we were overbilled by $100 on payment. Overbilled on payments period, resulting in a negative account balance greater than $150. If my spreadsheet is reasonably accurate, it looks like ICan has over-billed us by at least $250 for three weeks of services. That's not a world ending amount of money, but a full year of those kinds of mistakes ($250 / 3 weeks * 52 weeks) is >$4,000 of overbilling practices. Dan - You responded to the last review. I have left voicemails with your billing, and sent multiple emails. If we can get this sorted, I am happy to amend or remove this review all together. Edit: Wanted to call out... Dan has responded in other reviews that they are working to resolve the billing practices problems.

AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! If I could give zero or negative stars, I would. Be prepared to be given an estimate of charges and billed way more than what was estimated. We were given an estimate for our child's Autism Diagnosis and then billed for additional things that were NEVER even mentioned. I called multiple times prior to our appointment to really understand what we would be charged and billed for and what we were billed for was DRASTICALLY different than what we were told before the appointment. WHATEVER YOU DO - DO NOT PUT A CREDIT CARD ON FILE! THEY WILL CONTINUE TO RANDOMLY CHARGE YOU FOR ADDITIONAL SERVICES THAT YOU MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE RECEIVED. Go somewhere else even if it is a longer wait for services. The headache from dealing with this company is absolutely NOT worth it!

I would give 5 (or even 6) stars for the incredible work the therapist do with my son. However, the administrative experience has been very disappointing since the transition to a new third-party billing system (Raintree) in 2026. I have seen charges on my credit card without receiving any corresponding invoices to explain the dates or services provided. When I try to resolve these issues through Raintree, they do not answer the phone nor return voicemails. Additionally, the clinic has introduced a $60 monthly 'admin fee' in 2026 for basic scheduling and staff training, which feels like an unnecessary burden on families.

I just want to share my experience with ICAN. We feel so lucky that we found this center for our daughter three years ago. Without their support and the amazing team there, we wouldn’t have known how to help her grow. A huge thank you to Morgan, CJ, Alexis, and so many others at the Lakemont location — you all do an incredible job! Your kindness, friendliness, and genuine care really shine through. It’s clear how much you all care about helping kids with special needs. They take such good care of the children, making sure they’re having fun while also learning and growing. It’s truly inspiring to see how dedicated they are, and I highly recommend ICAN to any family looking for a caring and supportive place for their child.

I regret having to write this review, but I feel it’s important to share my experience with ICON Therapy, particularly the Bel-Red location. In my opinion, their practices are unprofessional and potentially risky for children. First, their evaluations seem to be conducted by individuals who lack the appropriate educational background. They do not recognize evaluations from respected institutions like Seattle Children’s, Swedish, or other reputable private entities, instead relying solely on their own questionable assessments. This approach raises serious concerns about their competence and safety for children. Additionally, after reviewing other feedback, it appears there are recurring issues, especially with the management at the Bel-Red location. The director and staff seem to selectively work with children who present fewer challenges, prioritizing business over genuinely helping those in need. I strongly urge parents to think carefully before choosing this facility. Your child’s well-being deserves better consideration. Here’s a revised version of your additional thoughts, integrating your concerns with clarity and impact: If your child has autism or challenging behaviors, be especially cautious. This place labels kids unfairly. For example, when my child exhibited certain behaviors, their immediate response was to suggest a medical issue. I followed their advice, sought medical attention, and brought back proof that my child was fine. Then, they insisted I see a psychologist or psychiatrist. Again, I followed through and provided documentation confirming there were no issues. Despite this, they dismissed the professional assessments and clung to their own flawed conclusions. Even with all the necessary paperwork, they refused to continue working with my child beyond a one-week trial. Instead of offering support and guidance as therapists, they seemed more focused on finding reasons to exclude children, sometimes even making fun of parents in the process. This lack of professionalism and empathy is unacceptable, and parents deserve better. Consider this carefully before entrusting your child to their care.

We have had the most wonderful experience with our BCBA, Natalya Zwar. She is very accessible. I have had meetings scheduled with her at hours notice . She even offered to meet with me after her usual office hours when something urgent came up. She has always been there to advocate with me for my son at school IEP meetings. She is very knowledgeable, offers great ideas and suggestions. BT Amanda has been amazing too.

Your provider perhaps referred you here and ours did too. We wanted to consult at Seattle Children’s but the wait was so long that we decided to seek diagnostic care here. While nothing is wrong with their methods of assessment, care and diagnosis, things are horribly wrong and unethical in how they bill patients. First, if possible, find care somewhere else. Second, when filling patient registration form, please do not put your credit card on file. You will be surprised how incorrectly you’ve been billed after every visit. Third, seek clarification on every transaction you’ve been billed. They not only bill for direct services, that is when they see you or your child or both, but also for indirect services like forms, paperwork and time spent filling that paperwork. Before our actual visit, our provider decided to spend two days to finish writing our child’s assessment report, so we had to pay 3 copays, one for actual visit and 2 copays for each consecutive day provider spent in writing the report. The provider could have easily finished writing the report in a day but she took 2 days so they billed the insurance company for 2 days. That’s just incorrect and unethical not to mention inefficient. They charge the patient for their’s staff’s inefficiency. Tomorrow, someone will take a week to write a report, are they going to bill for the task or every day spent doing that task? PLEASE FIND CARE SOMEWHERE ELSE. No wonder this place is so poorly rated.

The therapists are wonderful; the administration is a mess. The therapist care so much for the kiddos but they are over worked and have a chaotic administration. We have been assigned to multiple therapists who quit due to burnout and then we are placed back on a waiting list for therapy, so we cannot receive consistent services. In addition, I signed up my child for an aquatics program that was so poorly organized it was cancelled regularly and the company tried to cram two sessions in one session make up sessions (insurance fraud?) after paying a $200 fee to participate. Again the staff are great but the administration does not appear to support them well. One time I called and they had no idea we were even participating in an aquatics program. When you think you have found a consistent schedule of support, it changes in an instant due to turn over. When dealing with kiddos that need extra love and attention, this is simple not okay. I have called with my concerns, but instead of a call back I receive canned/impersonal email responses that do not support our family during a difficult transition.
