A few months ago, my husband and I had the opportunity to receive our RBT certification through Imi Ola under the leadership of Kevin. I had already been exploring ABA therapy for my son, who is on the spectrum, and from my very first interview with Kevin, I felt a deep sense of alignment with his vision. His enthusiasm for the work and his genuine compassion for the children were immediately evident. We were able to tour the locations, and my husband began working there shortly after. The offices were beautiful, thoughtfully designed, and truly child-centered. The environment was clean, welcoming, and engaging. What stood out most was the staff. They were not only highly trained and professional, but their care and love for the children could be felt in every interaction. Unfortunately, due to an unexpected family emergency, we had to return to the mainland, and our time there was cut short. As a mother navigating an autism diagnosis, I often felt lost and unsure of the right path. My hope had been for my son to receive ABA services at Imi Ola. While we waited, he enrolled in another local preschool. Through that experience, I came to understand even more clearly how essential specialized, well-trained, and compassionate programs truly are. The preschool simply did not have the training or capacity to meet his needs. Imi Ola is deeply child-centered. The integrity and kindness of its leadership set the tone for the entire organization. If we were able to return to the island, it is without hesitation where I would want my son to be. I am sharing this for any parent who may feel overwhelmed or uncertain in this process. I have been there. Finding the right support makes all the difference.
