I recently met Mrs.Abby, I absolutely love the professionalism, fun personality, patience, kindness and understanding with her, she made my first session very welcome, warm and safe. Also! The front desk was very polite, fun and kind. This is my first meeting at this location I look forward to my future treatment here. ❤️ A big thank you to K. Lamb at prism for recommending me here.

I have struggled with rewriting this review, but I am ready to come out and say it: My therapy here - in my opinion, which the 1st Amendment protects - was abusive. I cannot disclose everything, so I will share the things I feel most urgent about, so others might avoid harm like I experienced. My therapist told me that I was "the only client they believed" about my diagnosis. According to them, other clients "wanted" the diagnosis for "attention" because of TikTok ... I found that demeaning to those clients, who perhaps had simply discovered something about themselves (or thought they had). Insinuating that they were malingering for attention did not sit well with me. Also, I got my diagnosis by an experienced psychologist at a local hospital. How were those other clients MY concern, especially with the $ I was paying for MY therapy time? My therapist's attitude was not only non-neurodiversity affirming, but it struck me as unethical to talk about other clients behind their backs. I wondered what they were saying behind my back, too. Apparently, Insight Therapy is OK with their therapists holding these attitudes and venting about them to clients, as this therapist is still on staff. I read my records They are inaccurate to the point I cannot tell how much is down to: my therapist not paying attention, biases, or other problematic reasons. They frequently praised me in session for things that in the notes are portrayed as pathology -- something my present therapist says is unethical. They even pathologized known autistic traits, even though they are supposedly neurodiversity affirming (which btw should include ALL forms of neurodiversity, including MH conditions & stigmatized "disorders"-- not so here). Worst of all: My therapist IMO misrepresented their expertise, even telling me I was "lucky" to have found them because they were "specially trained" by virtue of IFS. Yet during their sudden, termination of my care, they said I needed an "expert." "I thought you said you were good with ______" I said. "That was before I knew you really had it!" They said. Yet throughout my months of therapy, they had told me other therapists were unlikely to believe in my dx or to know how to treat it, but THEY did. I was in a state of nervous system dysregulation because of trauma work w/zero grounding. I felt trapped with a therapist I could tell was pathologizing me/ not believing me, but I did not think I had anywhere else to go. I told my spouse this frequently. In the records, they portray me as "resorting to" bringing up their claimed expertise, as if I were begging to stay. No, I was calling out what I saw as harmful misrepresentation of their expertise. If they knew they were unable to treat me with this dx, they should have referred me out IMMEDIATELY. I remember they bought a book to help me & I thought, "if they need a book to help me, then they do not know enough to dismiss those other clients.") They claimed I needed a higher level of care. Turns out, I didn't! I needed a therapist who doesn't pathologize or vent about clients, who listens, who believes in my abuse & other experiences (unlike this one, who called them "elaborate stories" or "delusions") and is curious enough to ask questions instead of making (incorrect) assumptions. I found a therapist who is also an artist, who understands the way I express myself in art & with whom I have made incredible progress already--in a fraction of the time I wasted at Insight. My nervous system is calm and guess what? My new therapist is not an "expert," either. I just needed one who doesn't talk about other clients, who believes my abuse experiences, and keeps up on the research of my dx (which contrary to what my therapist here said, is NOT rare). I will be submitting a Medical Records Amendment, as is my right under HIPAA + I am exploring a licensure complaint. Luckily, my therapist admitted to certain things via email. I do not recommend Insight if you have complex trauma, are AFAB + neurodivergent -- and/or you have a controversial diagnosis.

If I hadn’t moved states, I would still be seeing Dawn and Jody. Dawn was a guiding light as I navigated complex life events, and Jody made talking to insurance and med management look easy. I’d highly recommend giving Insight Therapy a try to see if it’s a good fit for you.

SUPER easy to work with, can get in to see a psychiatrist very quickly, was able to get me in within the week, and the psychiatrist I worked with (Jody) was the bee's knees and was very good at actually listening and helping to come to a consensus on any issues I wished to address, huge upgrade from my previous psychiatrist. They also do telehealth appointments when it's most convenient, which made things super easy for me! Hands down best experience I've ever had with a psychiatrist.

I tried therapy multiple times and always stopped going until I met Dawn - she is extremely personable and professional and makes therapy to not feel like a chore. Thank you to both her and Jody for helping with my recovery ❤️
