Laura is so knowledgable and wonderful at what she does! She took the time to see and get who my child is. Laura was always available to answer any questions we had and is a great collaborator in helping to grow my child. I have the highest recommendation for her and her services!

The Act As IF group sessions has been a game changer for my high school age daughter. She knew/learned all the obvious/basic social skills that you teach younger children, and I was looking for a social skills group that allowed her to practice targeted age-appropriate/more nuanced social skills to help her in the college and work social environments. This was a huge concern of mine as she transitions to a young adult. It was difficult to find but Interactions Speech and Language “Act as If” group answered the call. My daughter's ability to navigate more complicated social situations/adult situations is improving and she is much more engaging with others…. So much so now that others are noticing. I highly recommend the this group!

My family and I really enjoy working with Ms. Laura McAlpine. My child feels comfortable around her and enjoys working with her. As parents, we struggled finding specialists that gave us detailed and nuanced evaluation and tailored recommendations. Ms. McAlpine gave us an extremely helpful evaluation and recommendation to meet a longer term goals, which we are now pursuing. She took all the time we needed to go through the report and address our questions. Ms. McAlpine also worked with us finding appointments that met our demanding schedule. Rarely have I found specialists willing to accommodate their clients' logistical needs (even when we're planning months ahead). I really appreciate that about Ms. McAlpine. To sum it up - she is knowledgeable and extremely professional, coupled with her empathy and warmness, she knows how to connect at a deeper level with her clients and students to help them achieve their full potential.

Laura has been an outstanding speech therapist to our son, as well as an outstanding guide to us as parents. She sets out clear goals, communicates well with parents and, most importantly, approaches the work with sincerity and empathy. She has done a fantastic job with our 6 year old in the field of expressive speech and reading comprehension. Because of Laura, he has more confidence and is better able to express himself. We consider ourselves really lucky to have worked with Laura and cannot recommend her highly enough!

Excellent reading comprehension therapist for our daughter! We can see the results in her understanding other concepts beyond reading. Laura is very clear in what she works on weekly and gives our daughter enough but not too much homework to strengthen her skills. Laura tested my 17 year old daughter and is providing weekly tutoring to improve her reading and writing skills. My daughter is dyslexic (but only diagnosed this year) and, historically, has not wanted tutoring. With Laura, she looks forward to tutoring, is in a really happy mood afterward, and believes Laura is helping her (which is a big deal because before working with Laura, she was convinced nothing would help her). It is so difficult to find someone who works with dyslexic adolescents and we are so lucky we found Laura!

My son has had a great experience working with Laura. He really enjoys his sessions with her and has dramatically improved his writing and reading comprehension skills. More importantly he has much more confidence in himself! From a parent perspective, Laura has been a great sounding board when things do come up and it has been helpful to have someone who can talk to his teachers so we are all on the same page.

Laura has done an outstanding job working with my two boys for 5+ years. She helps them with writing and reading comprehension and I've seen dramatic improvements in both areas. Laura McAlpine is a gem! There are not enough stars to give her!! If you are fortunate enough to have your child work with her consider yourself extremely lucky! My son is very bright but has a Learning Difference when it comes to reading and writing. As a parent I could not be more pleased with his improvement due to his sessions with Laura. Laura is well versed in technology and has taught our son how to use tech while working with them on reading, writing and other aspects of language he struggles with. She is kind, engaging and smart.
