Great teachers and facilities. Comfy couches for parents and students to hang out on!!

As a former mentor, Islands of Brilliance gave me much more than an opportunity to teach a child computer skills. It gave me genuine connections with the students and learning about their interests. It gave me compassion and understanding. It made me a better person and a better parent. If you know any creative skills I highly recommend volunteering as a mentor. If you don't have any creative skills I highly recommend making a donation to this non-profit organization.

I’ve had the opportunity to work with Islands of Brilliance and appreciate their mission to support neurodivergent individuals through creative programs. While the concept is admirable and has the potential to create real impact, my experience raised significant concerns about the organization’s practices. One of the most troubling aspects is the stark imbalance between what families are charged and what mentors are paid. Families are asked to pay $500 for one-on-one sessions, yet the mentors facilitating these sessions—who are the backbone of the program—are only paid $100. This glaring disparity not only feels exploitative but also raises serious questions about how the organization allocates its funds and prioritizes its resources. Two stars for the passion behind the idea, but substantial changes are needed to truly honor the community they aim to serve.

Islands of Brilliance combines creativity, education, and entrepreneurship. They are doing some really neat workshops!

Might be a little biased since my wife works here, but they do really great work with children and adults on the autism spectrum. Great group of people that really care.
