I loved working with these clinical staff, and I also gained invaluable information about how my ADHD affects me.
Yes, I am a client. These reviews are INSANE! I'll do my best to clarify: 1. It is the job of YOU (the patient/client) to see if your insurance will cover. If it doesn't, you're either too old or you have junk insurance. This isn't the fault of this center. They were VERY transparent with me from the first email/call that my insurance wouldn't cover and the cash price was "x" and included "y"- I did a fair amount of research, even checking out mainland companies and I felt sticking with LD ADHD was the best value for high quality neuro-divergent care here in Hawaii. They even had very flexible payment options and you can take your time getting the screening done if you need to for cost or for work or parenting conflicts. 2. If you know you know (IYkyk!)- I've never heard of someone on the spectrum who didn't LOVE cats! I honestly thought that was part of the "test"- I laughed my okole off for DAYS after realizing that the center was merged with a Cat Cafe!! It was so funny to me that I shared photos with thousands of others on a private neurodivergent reddit group and it will probably give them a lot of business! You're welcome! Keep in mind (as a small business owner) that leasing space for a business in Hawaii is often a losing proposition with the overhead. It's clear to me that the owner doctors CARE SO MUCH, that they are DOING WHAT THEY NEED TO DO to pay the bills to help the community and ohana. Come on guys! Be nice! 3. I would have liked more legroom in the testing and a more comfortable chair. I'll bring my own this weekend at my appointment. But that's just me and things I need I control and advocate for. I mean, i keep all of this in my CAR if I need it! Be prepared! :) The staff may also be on the spectrum- you can't assume that everyone is neuro-centric and will speak to you in that way to accommodate YOUR needs. Some of these comments truly made me quite upset. Just saying, being the parent of a neurodivergent child is no cake walk. Gotta get some thicker skin if these little things are disregulating you so much!
I personally have had an AMAZING experience with this company. The results are very thorough. The process seems lengthy but it is definitely worth the wait as it covers a deeper understanding of just “your child has this”. Dr Tyson was recommended to me from another parent and I’m incredibly grateful to go through the process for my children. I would recommend giving them the benefit of the doubt. Yes they are animal lovers and nothing is wrong with that, cats aren’t for everyone nor is dogs… I feel like the animals there are a safe distraction to the kiddos and along with any allergies that should be disclosed up front and they are accommodating. Worth the wait and worth seeing Dr. Tyson.
Cannot even get scheduled after months or jumping through their hoops. They finally refused to see my kids because we have 2 insurances...one which will cover the services 100% but the billing office doesn't want to be bothered with billing 2 insurances. My children's medical care has been delayed by months because of their office politics. This goes against the very ethics of medicine to withhold medical care because of poor office management.
My son had a positive testing experience here and loved the opportunity to pet cats at the cat cafe next door. It was a nice reward after his testing.
My experience with them has not been great. Getting the intake alone was a challenge and it's been an uphill battle ever since. The office finally gave me a call after weeks to schedule the intake. Then I was told that from the Intake doctor that someone from the office would back me back right away to schedule my son his 4 days of testing. Also, I let the doctor know that my son was allergic to pets (cats). She did mention there is “A” cat. She told me that there is a pet free room and not to worry and told me to bring eye drops for him. The intake was on the 9th of September and no one called, no one emailed, nothing. I continued to reach out to the office by phone and sent emails. No one answers the phone, nor could I leave a message because it's always full. I kept sending emails and that this point I wanted to speak to a manger or higher up. Weeks went by; finally a month after the intake someone (not the manger) calls me to schedule. I did ask what took so long and why no one called me. She replied "all I can say is we have staffing issue). She did not apologize for the long wait, for not returning my calls or emails and she did not seem to care that I wanted to speak to the manager. I was a little taken back with the customer service. We go in for my sons 1st day of testing. The 1st thing we see is a CAT!!! The smell of cat pee and poo hits you as you open the door. Then the front office isn't friendly. She never smiled nor did she greet us as we walked in. I walked up and asked her if we needed to sign in, ect. After that the CAT kept coming near us. I told the from office that my son is allergic. she said "oh". Like it's not a concern. Mind you Im going through this to help my son and to see if we can get a diagnosis for him and have the school adjusted to better help him. With that being said, we stayed (which I regret). He has his testing which is about 2 hours. As I waited for my son, the from office stood up and told me "you don't have to stay here, you can leave and we will call you when he is done" I said oh no, I don't feel comfortable leaving my son. I did not feel like they were concern about my sons wellbeing and/or took anything I said seriously because my son told me that the “cat free room” he was supposed to be in had a CAT in it!! Plus there were dogs as well. Then one of the doctors came out to the waiting area and was asking the staff if someone had mopped or if it was pee!!! I was horrified!!!! When the doctor came out with my son, he didn’t say much. I had to ask how he did, ect. Which I thought was weird. He was very cold. He gave me papers and went his way. There was no bye, see you next time.. nothing like that. No kindness. I tried to call this office to speak with a manger a few days later, because of what my son had told me about the cats and dogs being near him when he was supposed have a “pet free room” and once again no one answers the phone and the mailbox is full. I did send another email. I also called my sons PCP and told him about our experience there. He was in disbelief. At this point, I am done with this office and refused to go back and/or place my son in that environment again. Please don’t take yourself or your child here. They do not have the proper hygiene, cleanliness nor do they have the compassion for any of their patients with allergies. The office staff is not friendly, the doctor my son saw was not friendly to me, he felt very cold like I said. Please know that you will not get a call back or an email back from them until a month later; maybe even longer. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. You’ll thank me for it.
You can get your diagnosis for medications. However, the place has about 30 cats in there, and it smells horrible. There was also a bird flying around, pooping on the floor. And landing on me while I was taking one of the tests. At the end of all the assessments it was suggested that I go to some kind of auditory processing specialist, but they did not give me a referral or suggest where to go. In the final report, they claimed that I had taken tests on a “distraction free” environment. I do not think that they have one room that is distraction free. The doctor who went over the report via phone was cold, and did not give answers to questions or suggest where to go for further assessments.
