The doc was listening without compromising on my health and was still receptive of my complaints.

I thought I would give this place I try. It was pretty easy to get set up with a therapist. And they offer virtual appointments. I had a therapist who was located out of Milwaukee. And I'm in Madison. It worked great that we had virtual visits. I just found that I couldn't find a therapist who I could connect to here. There was limited availability for new intake. So I moved on to another therapy place.

I normally don’t do reviews of places, as you can tell from my post history, but I had an awesome experience with my therapist. I’m not adding his name specifically because I’m not sure if he’d want that. He was kind, listened, and pushed back at the moments I needed push back. I better understand myself thanks to his skill as a clinician. I made tremendous strides in understanding my negative self talk and recovering self esteem I lost from past traumas. I truly feel like I have grown into a happier and more self assured person thanks to the work I did with him. I cannot speak to every clinician at the practice, but I am grateful to have worked with mine!

I’ve given this counseling service multiple chances, trying several different therapists over time, but unfortunately, my experience has consistently been disappointing. The therapists I encountered seemed unprofessional and inexperienced. When I asked clarifying questions about their methods or approaches—something any engaged client has the right to do—they often became defensive instead of fostering open, collaborative dialogue and in the end could not answer the questions. Several therapists claimed to offer specific modalities like EMDR, but either did not follow through or only referenced it in name without using the technique properly or at all. Others seemed emotionally checked out, displaying little investment, genuine care or concern for their client. Or for the effort it takes to attend therapy, especially the burden on us to repeatedly bring new therapists up to speed. Counseling requires mutual commitment, professionalism, and compassion, and sadly, I didn’t find that here. I hope this feedback encourages the practice to improve training, communication, and therapeutic integrity.

If I could rate zero stars, I would. Westside Psychotherapy used to be a five star establishment. The therapists were excellent and the business was transparent about policies and billing. Once it was acquired by LifeStance, my experience there became terrible, with the exception of my actual therapist who is excellent. First, LifeStance refused to grandfather me in with my Westside Psychotherapy rate, which was pretty frustrating for someone who was already a client. So my bill went from about $150 per session to approximately $300 per session. When I had questions for billing, I was on hold for over an hour and did not receive a call back until much later in the day. Almost every digital message I sent to billing was ignored for weeks. They kept sending me bills without sending them to my insurance first. I am still waiting on updated bills from May/June that they told me would be available in 30-45 days. It's August now and I still haven't gotten any updates. Needless to say, when my therapist told me they were leaving LifeStance and starting their own practice, I rejoiced. While many of the therapists here are good, the overall establishment is very corporate, not transparent, and seems to treat both its clients and staff abhorrently.

Uncoordinated. I was passed to 6 different phone staff. No one had a clue how to get me scheduled with the therapist I requested & had been on a waitlist for even though a person named Marissa from their office reached out with specific guidelines for me to follow-up. When I did, I was passed around 6 times and no one knew what to do.
