hands down, the worst hospital chain in the country.. do yourself a favor, go to nh instead.. save the headache, unless you want incredibly rude staff, etc.. if I could rate it a zero, I would
It's where I go for everything!
Horrible...the absolute worst!
I’ll be honest—I asked to go to Maine Med, but the EMTs had to bring me to Biddeford, so I didn’t have high expectations. I arrived Monday morning with a severely broken ankle, and my experience was far better than I anticipated. Everyone I interacted with was wonderful. Dana in the ER was great and did everything she could to keep me comfortable while I waited for a bed, along with another nurse who was training her. The radiology team (who did my X-ray) Susan the PA, and the anesthesiologist were all excellent and clearly explained the plan of resetting my ankle leading up to my surgery the following morning. But I really want to shout out Heather and Jeremy in the “short stay” unit. Heather and Jeremy were incredible! Heather was kind, compassionate, and emotionally supportive while I was alone for much of my stay. Jeremy was attentive, easy to talk to, listened to my concerns and advocated for me as a patient. Biddeford is lucky to have both of them! EG, a CNA, was also very sweet. I briefly met Dr. Taggart (Otho surgeon), who explained the plan with a dry sense of humor which I appreciated. Overall, my experience at Biddeford exceeded my expectations, and I’m very grateful for the care I received
My son had Orthopedic surgery on Monday 11/17/25 after sustaining a broken arm a few days prior. Monday morning he met with the surgeon and team, then went to the OR. The staff were super. They allowed three of us to stay with him before and after surgery. The staff were all very caring and attentive. We went to the cafeteria for lunch and the food was super and very reasonably priced. The surgeon spoke to us afterwards and provided us with an overview. Honestly the team could not have been better, 5 star service for sure. Very happy :) THANK YOU to all.
This garbage hospital let's their nurses use their phone to text and call and harass people while they are actively on duty. Instead of paying attention to their patients they are on their phones. I would never want to be treated at a hospital that let's their nursing staff put pateints behind their own person needs
I received excellent care which surprised me They caught the sepsis early and even with a long recovery ahead it's much better with an early diagnosis. They treated me with total respect. I'm on morphine and dilaudid for chronic pain and had no problem getting my pain meds. It didn't matter if I had pain or just wanted a coffee it was all important to make me feel comfortable. Because of bleeding in my penis
do not ever take yourself or your loved ones here. please please please take the time to go to portland or even sanford, anything is better than this hospital if I could give it a 0 star I would. These doctors are the most invalidating, rude, uneducated, and hurtful and they only care about their paychecks. So many times they’ve messed up my IVs, sent me home in excruciating pain because they “couldn’t figure out what was wrong” , i’ve had doctors pull out their phone and look on google because they were so uneducated with my symptoms before, Lastly, you’ll 100% be sitting in the waiting room for hours on end while they send people who don’t even have an emergency back. I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy here recently and they were so incredibly rude and not welcoming at all. I told them prior to my procedure that last time i had an endoscopy i was in a lot of pain and told them the medications they gave me before, they told me i shouldn’t need them and that i won’t be in pain, they looked at me like i was a drug addict for telling them (the prep nurse instructed me to tell them because it’s important) , They didn’t give me anything to calm my body and i went into the OR full body shaking, the surgical team put the mouth guard in my mouth while i was hyperventilating while I was telling them i couldn’t breathe and they proceeded to ignore me and put the oxygen mask over my head. when i woke up, i was hysterically crying asking passing nurses to help me and they all looked at eachother and walked away, they told me they gave me tylenol and ibuprofen when i’m not allowed to have ibuprofen for certain reasons and i told them tylenol doesn’t help me, they also cannot give you ibuprofen after biopsies which is a know fact. they gaslit me to believe i asked them for that and tossed tissues and my phone on my lap. I was hysterically crying asking to see my family and they weren’t allowing me to, and was rude to my mother and my fiancée. I not only felt uncomfortable but I didn’t feel listened to, or safe. Overall, Please do not go here for anything please just go to portland. there’s so many horror stories from people i know.
