I never thought I would need speech therapy, but when I started to experience fatigue and discomfort in my vocal cords and having a little trouble speaking after a long day at work, I decided to get checked out and was diagnosed with a moderate case of dysphonia. Lucky for me, I was referred to Nick at Maine health physical therapy. In just a few sessions we got my speaking voice back on track and I’m feeling much better and now have techniques to keep it from happening again!

We worked with SMHC/Maine Health's Speech Language Pathology, specifically Nicholas Viola, every week for the better part of a year to help our two year-old with his expressive communication delay. From day one, "Doctor Nick," as my children called him, made a strong connection with my toddler, was responsive to his needs, and helped him make gains that never would have been possible without his expertise. My son looked forward to his weekly appointments, and Nick's dynamic and adaptive approach ensured that every meeting resulted in some measure of progress. Nick is a true professional with an innate talent for interacting with young children and we were truly lucky to work with him. My son was ultimately dismissed from services because Nick helped him make so many gains. Although a proud moment, it was not without some regret that we said "goodbye" at his last appointment. I cannot recommend Nicholas Viola and SMHC/Maine Health's Speech Language Pathology work highly enough. My son's trajectory was changed because of our experience with them. Thank you!

Omg where to begin! Maddison thank you for all that you have done for me all the exercises intended beginning! You listened and acknowledged when I was in discomfort and you adjusted to my comfortabilaty! Tod what can I say you are a blessing!! you gave me what I needed to heal and then some. I highly recommend this office for any of your physical therapy needs! The receptionist are friendly, welcoming, and always have a smile on their face. The physical therapists are kind, knowledgable, and fun to work with. I personally recommend Madison or Kaylee (these are the two therapists I worked with and absolutely loved!). I was always able to get appointments scheduled quickly and was provided handout sheets for continuing my therapy myself at home. It's a great office!

The therapists, Erin, Sarah, and Michelle were all very experienced and knowledgeable. I worked mostly with Sarah who was patient and thoughtful in her instructions. She explained the exercises and suggested viewing them online for more information. All three were encouraging and showed me how to get the most from PT. After only 2 1/2 months, I have progressed enough to he doing all of my routine daily chores. I am living my life...with no pain and only a little discomfort occasionally. I am very satisfied with the therapists and with the outcome from surgery. Now it's on me to continue and to get stronger. Thank you!

I greatly benefited from my experience at SMHC Physical Therapy! My vertigo has completely been improved! My thanks to Kayle for her expertise and patience working with me. She is very knowledgeable in all aspects of Physical therapy. She was very pleasant, helpful and so very sweet! I am so grateful for all the things she taught me to keep my vertigo at bay and my balance has greatly improved! I think as long as I keep up with all the exercises she gave I will again enjoy getting out and going for long walks! Thank you for all you do.
