Malama Pono Autism Center

We’ve been with Malama Pono Autism Center for a little over two years, and they have made such a positive impact on our lives. Both of my kids have received multiple services here, and the progress they’ve made has been incredible. My youngest attended the Kalo Preschool Program and was surrounded by so much love and support. When he graduated, I knew he was truly ready for kindergarten. He was confident, prepared, and able to attend an inclusion classroom after all the work he did in preschool. He was pretty much nonverbal when we started, and now he’s speaking in full sentences. The speech and occupational therapy teams have been amazing, helping with picky eating, big emotions, and everyday life skills. Communication has always been great too. I loved getting the daily logs and knowing exactly how each of my kids’ days went. If anything important came up we always received a phone call before pick up. Even with a child who can have some really tough days, she was always met with patience, care, and genuine love. The staff has been consistent, reliable, and truly goes above and beyond. Our BCBA has also been a huge help during our transition into public school, guiding us every step of the way and making sure our child’s needs were met. Parent trainings were always provided to help us feel confident using behavior strategies at home, and that made such a huge difference. It’s honestly a joy every time my kids see anyone from the clinic. Everyone knows their names and greets them with big smiles. You can tell the staff really loves what they do because the energy is always so positive. My kids have always been happy to go, which says everything. We’re so thankful for this team and the way they’ve supported our whole family. They’ve celebrated every milestone right alongside us, and I couldn’t imagine a better place for my kids to grow.

Don't send your kids here...This complany only cares about money. My child's things would go missing constantly, his feet were extremely dirty EVERY DAY when we picked him up and they constantly talked about charging me for cancelling session (like I can control when my child is sick).

Thank you to the entire Staff!! from the front desk, to the parking lot team and all the RBT BCBA and support staff. Single Army dad of 2, my daughter non verbal age4 and this was our first experience with in center therapy. The parent and family coaching, classroom setting, attention to detail and documentation of progress and areas to work on helped us communicate better with my daughter and helped her communicate with others. Retirement and PCS is the only reason we left. Waiting list was about 5 months but it was worth it. Thank you and will visit so you can see how much she has grown and progressed... and still loves her Oreos -Team Scott ⭐️

I really wanted to love this place but after a few months I noticed disorganization in all areas. My child got injured several times there and we were told various stories before the truth of each incident. In other words, constantly lied too. Im giving a star for my kids RBTS (we still love you two girls) my child’s main RBTs whom my child loved. They were wonderful girls, thank you. I pulled my kid out due to safety reasons from other rbts and covered up stories to protect each other. My last straw was when my child came home with a Black Eye. A black eye?!! Also, They did not call us until 2 hours after a head injury involving a black eye -breaking their own safety protocol. We were told multiple stories and we still don’t know the truth. My kid has gotten bruises and a large lump on her head one time. I have pictures but chose not to post them. When the kids get injured often and parents get lied to- 🚩The owner, sadly did not care and only pretended to care. That was disappointing . It took me so long to write a review so that I could compare her new place to Malama Pono because I had no idea how things were supposed to be. We felt like a four digit number at Mpac. There was a strange(don’t come in the building vibe ever unless there was a meeting). Very odd sneaky type of behavior..(the new place is nothing like this place its quite opposite) The BCBA from Mpac disappointed me the most, he lied on paperwork, so we decided not use his information on our child with her new place. Most likely this post will get taken down. Kids get hurt in there all the time which happens and thats fine but to lie to the parents about their bumps and bruises.. or even a black eye is ludicrous. We pay for therapy, not injuries and negligence.We used this facility for 7 months and pulled my kid out. If you are Tricare.. trust them and stick to the recommended places they give us on the website. Malama Pono is not on their list. (My first mistake). They have functions that exclude family members such as Easter of 2023. They had animals outside but family was not invited. No inclusion for the family, disorganized in all areas, protects owners establishment at all cost even if unethical and unknowing of information first hand. My childs new place on Oahu uses 1 rbt for the whole day for my child which is less stressful for everyone. The new place (not malama) accommodates times /days and are transparent with information. Quite the opposite compared to Mpac. Malama Pono website has been created to look enticing to folks like me. All fluff imo, great web designer though. Thank you for showing me your standards so that I could find a place that meets my child’s needs and my standards of safety, inclusion, transparency, honesty and most of all how we treat people in general. We are people, not numbers and to blame children for your negligence is unacceptable. They did not bother to check on my child while she was out for a whole week healing from her black eye due to negligence from a ABA therapy center. “Accidents” there happen often. (Some good seeds in that establishment but bad soil.) update: my daughter has been going to her new place for a few months and she has never gotten hurt at this new place so far. Interesting observation from my perspective. Edit update: 7-8 months later, my child's new place has never charged up ridiculous fees. Ever. Never got hurt, no accidents, and no thieves either. Malama Pono is below the BAR in comparison to other ABA therapy centers in safety and inclusion. I am glad I was able to compare different places. Go to them, or not… it is your kid. Have a nice day fellow reviewes. Update: its been almost one year at my child’s new place. No injuries ever. My son goes her for autism, and the facility and the staff are top notch and they really seem to care about the kids. There is a genuine joy from them not as of it is a job. My son loves coming here!
