I worked with Mariam Jensen for 2 years and found her to be a caring, compassionate therapist and a wonderful advocate for children. She holds to a high standard of ethics and evidence-based practice. She listens to concerns and seeks solutions to alleviate problems. She is skilled in play therapy and I recommend her without reservation.

Even though we had had our son in therapy for 6 months before we found Ms. Jensen, I didn't understand how play therapy helped him until we started at Joyful Heart. She is so patient both with the kids and parents, teaching parents how to help their child throughout the process. She is so attuned to our son and how he thinks and feels. And I've learned more about him myself through this. It does take more time and effort on the part of the parents/caregivers than his last therapist, but it's 100% worth it. Don't hesitate to bring your child here.

I worked with Mariam Jenson in a school setting. She was a therapist for several of my students with social emotional needs. Her therapy environment is warm and inviting. The office is filled with activities that are pleasing to every child. My students would go to see Mariam in a heightened state of emotions and return to the classroom renewed and calm. My favorite thing about Mariam is that she is willing to meet her clients where they are physically and mentally at the time. She is soft spoken snd calm and invites them into her space. When one is nervous or afraid she will get down beside them and wait in the hall or wherever they are comfortable. She is so very patient and loving. I will say that every student of mine benefitted greatly from therapy with Mariam. In 34 years of teaching children with emotional and behavioral needs, she is one of the very best therapists I have had the pleasure of working with!

I was in group supervision with Mariam before we got our clinical licenses and I have always deeply respected her ability to see through difficult things and make ethical decisions that will benefit the client. She is a gentle soul with deep strength underneath. She sees the preciousness of the child and knows the need to help the parents navigate difficult times. I would send my grandchildren to her as I know they would be well cared for and helped.
