Went to meadowwood for anti-sheep delusions. They have not fixed any of my anti-sheep delusions but have perpetuated them some more. Also may have given me depression.

I wanted to wait til I was an adult to finally speak up on my experience there.. I was admitted in April of 2022, in unit C if I’m not mistaken.. First day I arrived I had slept on a mat on the floor in a cold room. Throughout the 12 1/2 days I was there multiple situations had happened that were not okay. I got into a verbal argument with another minor there while in “gym”, when they took us back even I know it was wrong, I threaten to choke her with my sweater.. the nurse that was with me was laughing about it. Another day a different minor was having some issues due to other girls bullying her and was highly upset.. instead of someone pulling her to the side and talking to her and nurse name Zach M came in and pinned this girl down as if she was a grown man who had just harmed someone. Closer to the days I was leaving a situation came about where two girls slammed another girls head into the metal doors.. multiple staff/nurses came which you’d assume was a good thing except there was Zach M once again and another male who was gripping up girls, which mind you majority looked about 90-100lbs, and throwing them into their rooms. I walked into my room because I was scared and didn’t want to be picked up and thrown around like a doll which then Zach M came into the same room, luckily I wasn’t alone..but I had repeatedly told him I was afraid of him due to a situation that happened with another female which I stated in this paragraph which he then laughed and repeatedly said “Oh your scared of me?” as he walked closer and closer then left.. For one if that man hasn’t been fired yet he sure as hell should be!! There is some good nurses and staff I wish I knew the names of but he was not one of them! Also to add there was a nurse that was in there that gave a certain female his vuse (vape) when he’d come in and she would go to the bathroom and hit it.. once I found out , as someone who was on nicotine heavily, I of course asked him for it myself and had received it multiple times.. he was a great person just not someone who should be working there.. if this doesn’t give you enough reason to keep your child far from here i don’t know what will.. but this place SUCKS. ALSO when we were allowed outside the windows across were rooms to adult men who would wave to us and make sexual gestures.

Just discharged this morning from MEADOW WOOD BEHAVIORAL HOSPITAL and I can’t believe the level of disorganization, lack of caring, negative attitude, rudeness and disrespect that myself and every other patient in A ward were treated with by the staff at Meadow Wood Behavioral Health Hospital. The facility is filthy and with not enough food, clothing, towels, etc. Also I was sent home with someone else’s bag mixed in with my things. I reported as soon I realized as there were important documents with another patient’s information. As I see this I believe it is a HIPPA VIOLATION. I immediately notified the state police and brought the patient’s property. DO BETTER MEADOW WOOD BEHAVIORAL HOSPITAL!

If I could give zero stars I would. This place says, "Our commitment extends to the family as a whole, and endeavors to deliver the highest quality treatment for psychiatric disorders and/or addictive diseases." Our adult child was taken there from Recovery Innovations. After 5 days, we have not been able to speak to our daughter by calling. Luckily she has called us. When we get transferred, no one answers. I have tried to speak to supervisors and left two messages and no calls were returned. My daughter went there with a coat but it is not with her now. When she goes outside for break, she has no coat. She is an adult, but you would think that they would want to get her history to better treat her. We took her clothing on a Saturday. As of Monday, they had not given it to her. She is on our insurance so I am sure they will keep here there just to get money. We have her password so you would think they would at least let us know she is safe and that they have a treatment plan. I'm guessing is she had no insurance, they would find a reason to kick her to the curb. I will be filing a complaint and reaching out to my state representative and senator. Families should be able to at least give information about their children, even as adults. This is nothing but a corporate owned jail masked as a behavioral hospital.

I was here for 2 weeks in February 2024 and I had a horrible experience. Food on weekends is usually boiled eggs and soggy bread, no hot food. You rarely get out of the unit you are in, in my 2 weeks there I was out of the unit for thing like the gym 2 times. Also while I was there I got jumped by 3 people who were 3 years older, they kicked and punched me in the back, neck and head repeatedly for about 2 minutes until security managed to get the girls off of me. I was then escorted to my room which had 2 doors, and was given no medical attention, no one even asked if I was hurt. They gave me my meds and a snack and thats it. And they also did not let me call my guardian The next day my guardian was called, and they nurses there told her it was "just a scuffle" when in reality I was jumped and most likely suffered a head injury. About a year after this incident I spoke up about it and we reported this facility to Delaware police and health and safety. The unit claimed we waited to long and they no longer had the footage. Overall unless you want to see people get hurt, have police called, and be confined to the same 2 rooms for 2-3 weeks, do not come here.

This place should be shut down. My daughter was assaulted here. They were supposed to release her to us on a Friday but instead a day after being assaulted and three days before we could fly to Delaware to get her they put her out on the street with nothing more than a paper bag ! Inhumane treatment for someone with PTSD. If anything happens to her they will be responsible!

I want to start this review off by saying that having a mom in the medical field I completely understand the HIPPA laws and not sharing health information with another person; however, I do not agree that someone’s health who is taken in, involuntarily should not be shared with a spouse or related person regarding their care and quite frankly, it’s disturbing if this place doesn’t have something into effect as such for those cases as it can make it extremely difficult for family to intervene positively upon someone’s discharge when they do not have the full picture and are dealing with someone who is mentally unwell. I had a family member taken here on an involuntary status back in August. During this time, the family member was able to use the phone to contact their spouse and threaten them and harass them on multiple occasions. It seemed like no one at meaddow wood intervened the call and I’m honestly surprised they even allowed this person to have a phone to make a call with considering their mental state. When this said family member was discharged, the rest of my family was wondering how and why. Clearly, they were still unwell. There was no follow up (from what we know) regarding her care or what the next plan should be as we got not record of how to intervene positively at time of discharge. Flash forward and two months later, they were taken in AGAIN involuntarily. My family is doing everything we can to make sure that this family member is not a danger to themselves or others be it emotionally, physically or financially, but without having any tools or advice or even a diagnosis to be able to assist them to get the care needed seeing as they were not taken in willingly, makes it extremely difficult for us. The last time they were discharged they didn’t even feel of sound mind to drive and was still all over the place with thoughts, ideas and out of touch with reality. Yet, the staff at this facility deemed it appropriate to just discharge them WILLINGLY. It’s disheartening to think that they are back in there for the exact same approach to her care and aftercare, to not change one bit. Where are the proper interventions that should be taking place with their own physician? Or their own psychologist? What are the rules regarding having a patient in your care be discharged and who sets what that measurement is based off of? Are they assigned a social worker or case worker who could communicate such things to a family member? I’m sure many patients taken in with a mental health crisis may need intervention, and unfortunately, this place gives off a very “lack luster” approach to care for their patients be it on a short term basis or long term one. I wish other reviews read differently, but that doesn’t seem to be the case regarding this facility and it’s a real shame. The worst part about it is that they read these reviews (dating back years) and yet, these bad reviews are still being written today - a clear sign of poor practice and ethics by folks that clearly don’t care enough to make a change to fix the narrative being written about their operations and furthermore makes you wonder if they truly care about the overall well being of their patients.
