Mending Minds Therapy

TLDR: Mending Mind’s is a cozy, safe environment where I can easily ask questions without feeling belittled or foolish for not knowing the answer, or not knowing there were other options. Angie Lake is kind and friendly, and a safe LGBTQIA+ space. I highly recommend Mending Minds. You can tell that their staff genuinely want to make a difference, and they’re not just in it for the paycheck, and that means a lot. I started my mental health journey with a lot of research. I looked into almost every single office in town, because I knew I had a very certain criteria that I wanted to be met when starting my journey, and it was important to me to look at multiple options. And Mending Minds really stood out to me. They seemed very open and friendly and understanding, especially Angie Lake. She made a point to specify in her “about me” blurb that she is a safe space for the LGBTQIA+ community, and that was one of my highest priorities. Being a young, queer woman with a partner who is trans, in a red state, and in a very religious and conservative town… it’s really easy to feel out of place, and hard to truly feel safe, and find community. And Angie has been nothing but kind and understanding, while also being helpful and truthful. She tells me what I need to hear, even if I might not want to hear it. She’s very open about trying new things and taking things at my pace when I need it, and answering questions as best as she can, or finding answers when she doesn’t know. It’s easy to feel safe and comfortable and understood with her, and I don’t feel foolish admitting that I don’t know certain things, or asking questions. She’s gentle and kind, and her office is cozy (and I’m always bringing a little stuffed friend with me to our sessions, and she even asks about them and notices when there’s a new one she hasn’t seen before, and as someone who uses stuffed animals for emotional support rather often, it means a lot that she recognizes and asks me about my little friends).

I have been seeing Kendra for over 2 years now and I can not recommend her office enough! Mending Minds is a great support system for mental health progress individually, couples, and group sessions! The knowledge the staff has and resorces they are connected with are beyond amazing! The bond you create in their office between group sessions and the staff is the best support you can ask for! I have and will continue to recommend all of my friends to Mending Minds regardless of how serious their needs are!

Approving insurance went great. Booking was great. Then I was blatantly ignored for a week straight 7/28-8/4 when setting up a records request/release from my old therapist to Mending Minds so that way she had my file before I come in. She read my texts with no response, never called me back after a few voicemails. All she needed to do was email them records request but refused to do so. No recorded vm saying she was out of office, no response that she will get back to me sometime later, just left on read. She did suggest going to their office, pick up the papers, then bring them in. 1) I live far out, I shouldn’t have to do that extra work before my appointment, we’re in 2025 now. 2) I wanted new therapist to review my file before seeing me because I have diagnosed OCD and PTSD from my psych eval at Sandstone. They don’t care about treating current diagnosis, they just want to pick up new patients. They may be great with brand new patients that are green on coping with their mental health, but not patients that have previous history. *update* my review was removed, so I’m re-editing it for it to re-post. If you remove this review, I’ll keep editing it to include your further unprofessional behavior. I took screenshots of you leaving me on read, my review posting, my review no longer being visible, and this new repost. Yeah, stay clear from here! *response to owner*… Yes of course, I am aware things take time. I’ve had enough medical issues between me and my daughter to understand the need to wait for results of things. However, you completely left me on read for over an entire week without telling me when you were coming back/if you sent it/when you were going to if you needed later etc and Sandstone was straight up telling me they received NOTHING from you guys when I’d call them every few days asking about it. So no, you guys didn’t even start the releasing process. You are lying in your response to try to make yourself look better, so I’m bringing this 2 star down to 1 for lack of accountability. Thanks again.

As someone who’s apart of the lgbtqia+ community minding minds are absolutely accepting and welcoming, they don’t judge you regardless of background I recommend Angie to have a as a therapist since she’s really understanding

This place is amazing, I have issues trusting therapists because of issues i have had with the ones I have seen in the past. It took me a long time to try again and I could not have picked a better place. Chelsee is an awesome and very chill person to talk to. She helped me to understand why I did some of the things I do, and to pinpoint some of the things in my past that are triggers for me. I feel so much better and validated having gone here. I have grown so much and understand more about me and my spouse and we have never been closer. Thank you guys for all that you do!!!
