Merrimack Valley Young Adult Program

This program was great at the beginning. However because of the director PJ, the roll over and inconsistency of the staff is a lot for young adults with mental health issues to handle. Staff was constantly late to appointments. When my child needed to use the respite room she was locked out of the house for 4 hours while the staff was sitting on the couch in front of the window my daughter was knocking on, this staff member refused to answer the emergency phone as I tried called 38 times to get my daughter back in the house, and would not answer the door after my daughter spent hours ringing the doorbell. This happened on a Saturday so no one else was available to call, I even tried emailing Joshua Beebee the therapist for the program. I had to drive there about 40 mins away. They blame the roll over of the staff on the clients and accusing them of not using the services provided. My child used the services up until they were no longer available to use and suffered greatly because of the having them not, having them and not. Then they lied in the discharge paperwork. When I asked the director PJ for his bosses email and phone number he refused because “she was moving offices”. I was told my PJ’s director that he should have given them to me when I asked(this was a year later that I was able to talk to her). PJ has no compassion for anyone with mental health issues, he should. It be working with young adults. He should not be the director there. Two of the employees upon leaving told my child and I they left because of PJ and how he treated them and that I should keep notes on him and report him. This is just a short of what we went through at this program. I was told that they aren’t used to having family involvement like me. They told me they were there to take stuff off my plate and they did no such thing. They caused my child more anxiety and depression with the constant roll over in people my child really started to form relationships with. Glad we are out of this program. Be ware of your discharge paperwork and the lies they spew in them. Make sure you read them well! It only took about 5/6 months for us to receive them, amongst other things, I’m still waiting for that. I’ll never get. I’d think twice before letting my child enter this program. DMH has several other great programs and this is not one of them!
