Milestones Psychology & Therapy

I've been waiting to write a review until I had the energy to put into this place one last time. I'm doing this for the parents out there who need quality psychological services and testing, this is not the establishment for you. My son has an entire doctor team from Birmingham and I have met more specialists, doctors, nurses, and surgeons.. in his 8 years than in my entire life. With that being said, this establishment wins for absolutely THE WORST. Milestones disturbed me to my core with various manipulation tactics. I shouldn't have to explain a disability I have with my eyes to get people to respectfully explain things again, clearer, and slower. Degrading me when I asked questions, as though 'how dare I not know this already'. I truly did not expect to be gaslighted by Dr.Cotter, the receptionist who apparently "had a family emergency that day" hence her rudeness, nor Melissa with medical records. Oh, Melissa looked me in my face and promised to call me the following Tuesday at the latest. It was two weeks before I called her back. They refused to give me medical records, claiming they didn't have any available. My son had been previously diagnosed here so they had medical records. Thinking about the interactions with the staff truly disturbs me. Writing this has me feeling physically ill. The longer story would expose my son's need for privacy, but Milestones lied to me multiple times and gave me a diagnosis that was founded on absolutely minimal clinical data. We will stick to Birmingham and will update in about a year when we can get a proper diagnosis. I will confirm in a year the misdiagnosis. As parents we know our kids better than a stranger who will play with your kid and a pirate ship an entire minute to determine a diagnosis. Karla with testing was very nice, and would like to credit her for her professionalism. I suggest you consider another establishment that will align better with the quality of care you give. By the way, this process is long and grueling so I recommend you choose wisely to avoid potential year(s) of delay. Edit Nov 2025... Still trying to get in for an assessment. Like previously stated.... It's a LONG process. Please consider Birmingham or Montgomery. The most disturbing fact is that Millstones has directly affected my son's ability to get an accurate diagnosis for about two years now. Sickening that a psychologists office would stoop so low. Be prepared for the fast talking technique to throw you off and prevent you from asking too many questions.

We heard great things. The timeline was better than many other places. However, the intake process and results seemed like a cattle call. I am quite certain Dr. Cotter had not reviewed the report since it was written, she spoke too fast and gave us very little time to absorb the information, let alone ask questions. Her solution was for us to make another appointment. Oddly her staff seemed to be much better with children than she was.

We absolutely LOVE this office! My son has been in speech and feeding therapy for almost a year there with Mrs. Bianca and we have seen so much improvement in his speech and eating habits we have been blown away at the things he has learned! He went from when we first started to not wanting to go in back alone he was attached but now he loves to go to speech and if we pass it he gets upset we aren’t going! All the ladies who work there are so super sweet and friendly. It’s the BEST office in Dothan.

My kids have been going to Milestones for Speech/ Occupational therapy for 4 years now. The staff is so supportive and lovely. We have only had good experiences with the therapists assigned to my kiddos. Very thorough and genuinely enjoy what they do!

We love our PT, Gracie! She’s helped my baby with torticollis since she was 3 weeks old! She’s made major improvements in such a short time. Mrs. Michelle at the front desk is incredible, and all of the staff are wonderful!

As a parent it’s very hard watching your child struggle with speech/communication. My son specifically had trouble pronouncing certain sounds & was just generally difficult to understand to adults & children his own age. His speech therapist Mrs. Bianca has taken the time to get to know him and how he learns best. She has helped him with speech using games, physical activity, crafts, & just getting down on his level to encourage him. She has also taken the time to encourage and empower me as a parent to work with him at home too! He actually enjoys & looks forward to his appointments. We cannot recommend Milestones Speech enough! My son has transformed into a very confident and accomplished communicator thanks to this place & especially Mrs. Bianca! Mrs. Michelle at the front desk is also an angel. Honestly, everyone who works here that I have interacted with has been kind. You can tell by observing their interactions with each other & the kids that they truly care about what they are doing in the lives of the children they’re working with! We are forever grateful for this place! ♥️
