Phone number doesn’t connect to the actual clinic and I was stuck on the phone getting transferred over and over
The receptionist on the 3rd floor was useless and rude. When I got up there she was lounging on her cell phone, feet up. I told her I was there re a sleep study and had no idea what I was talking about. Luckily my name was called right away when I was trying to explain to her I was on the right floor.
Don’t waste your time. I’ve been here a few times with my kids, and I want to give parents a heads-up. First off, they can’t do labs, so don’t expect a full workup. They very rarely give a diagnosis. They do a basic exam and tell you to follow up with the pediatrician. The biggest thing I notice is the staff’s bedside manner. Some of them give off this cold, distant energy that feels… off. Not unprofessional, just not what I expect from a children’s hospital. You want warmth, reassurance, a little personality? Sometimes you get a bit of that, but overall it can feel very clinical and impersonal. Honestly, if you’re making a special trip to this urgent care, it can feel like a waste of time. You might be better off going to a nearby general urgent care or straight to the children’s hospital emergency room if it’s serious. They should close this “clinic” down.
My child saw Julie Buntrock, APNP, because I was concerned my child may have pneumonia due to their symptoms and the fact that after a few days they were getting worse, not better, especially their wet cough that kept them up for nights. We saw her and she didn't seem to care and we felt rushed. She said my child was fine. I even specifically asked how my child's ears were. She replied saying they were "fine." Fast forward to the next morning, my child was even worse than the day before. We ended up taking my child to an urgent care not affiliated with Children's and my child indeed had a bad ear infection and influenza-A, which they actually tested for. Even though rest and hydration are really the only things my child could do because antibiotics won't get rid of it, it was nice to know what they had. My child also get medication to help with the ear infection. Julie never offered us any testing. I'll never take my children to Children's ever again. Too many issues with the doctors and staff. We already found another provider not affiliated with Children's and are very happy with them. We're now stuck with a bill for Children's, for a service, that wasn't worth it and a huge waste of time.
I called, trying to make an emergency appointment and was somewhat in a panic. The receptionist got annoyed with me and started to act rude, and then she hung up on me. As a mother trying to make an emergency appointment for her child, no one should hang up on you because they get annoyed, they should transfer you to somebody else if they can’t handle the panic behind, the intent of the phone call. This woman should’ve never been hired there. I elevated my concerns and never heard back. She acted horribly and it was disgusting.
SLEEP STUDY- Staff was Awesome! Just turned 6yr old (Autistic) didn't know how he would react to the wires all over head, nose and toe. With YouTube I was able to show him what to expect. Staff helped explaining to him White fishnet for head was like "Spiderman's Web" and I told him sticky goo was like Vaseline. The room was Perfect! Bringing pillow and blanket from home helped for more at home feel (goo might get on pillow case but with some shout came right out) In morning I wiped some of sticky goo out with tissue and warm soapy water. I can only imagine process for long hair/but with shampoo conditioner it will eventually come out. After all it's the Sleep Study thats Important.
