Very unprofessional staff, they send you in circles. I can’t never speak with a supervisor to understand what’s going to with ur love one Who is deemed incompetent and does not have their right mind. Unbelievable, They kept my sister an No one thought to pick up the phone and call me to make me aware she wouldn’t be returning home .

I don’t how Public Health hasn’t shut this place down. My mother was admitted Beginning of August 2025 she came out worse than what she went in. No amount of Apologies will heal !!

I have never forgotten this place but couldn’t remember the name so that’s why my post is happening a year later. If you truly love your family, DO NOT send them here! I didn’t care that the facility was old and outdated. What I truly cared about was how horribly disgusting this place was. We were subjected to one rest room for all patients to use. The bathroom sink worked, yet there was no soap. The day room had a sink with soap, yet didn’t work. The place reeked of urine and feces. The bathroom floor, from the the sink to the toilet was covered with used toilet paper and the floor was constantly wet with only I can think of was urine. The whole dayroom smelled worse than a portapotty and we were required to eat, do activities, and watch tv in the stench. I discovered later that the feces smell was actually several residents had c-diff, a very contagious, very horrible stomach infection. We were locked out our rooms all day, except for 1 1/2 hour break, forcing people like me who were disabled to sit in the day room on uncomfortable chairs that aggravated my physical heath symptoms. The day nurse was cold and uncaring when asking for meds( such as nausea meds or Tylenol)that were not on the morning, afternoon or night schedule. The only saving grace were the highly overworked day techs who were responsible for everything, including our activities, and daily counseling. I was overdrugged by the psych Dr, the night nurse was the only desk staff that was kind besides the techs. By the time my 72 hour hold was done, I was scared and exhausted enough to literally say anything positive to get me out that place. I felt horrible for the patients who were forced to stay there longer. The lady who last interviewed me to see if I was well enough to go home was cold and unkind, I was afraid she would make me stay longer. Phone calls to family were short, timed and a staff member sat by the door which was opened so I was afraid to say anything negative for fear they would keep me longer. I am aware that their will be moments in my life where I might need hospitalization again but i fear ever having to return to Oceans!

Dr West showed up before I needed him… West gets a five Star.

*** The Director of Clinical Services and Patient Advocate license was placed on probation for 2 years in 2020 and faced federal indictment for spending tens of thousands of federal dollars meant for the less fortunate on pricey personal expenses. Yet this person was hired to be director of Clinical Services and Patient Advocate. Unbelievably shocking. Avoid this facility at all costs. The leadership is incompetent at best and negligent at worst. Communication with the Nurse Practitioner is nearly impossible, even when legal documentation (Power of Attorney) is provided. Calls and emails go unanswered, and responses—when given—are often contradictory and misleading. My brother was discharged on March 14 with a bandage on his foot that was dated February 27—a clear sign of neglect. This is just one example of the many serious issues at this facility. They seem unaware of basic patient rights and provide substandard care. While a few staff members were kind and attentive, the overall management of this place is unacceptable. If you care about your loved ones, do not send them here. Finally, the number and email address provided in every review reply go unanswered.

I would have gave a 0. Beware of the Nurse Practitioner. She didn't help my sister at all. She was at this place for a month. I asked for her to return my call on the care of my sister and she never did. My sister left there smelling .I had to take her to the hospital to get her admitted somewhere else.

Kim, Dionne, Monique, Michelle, Yvonne and Yasmin go above and beyond. My elder loved one has had issues with being suicidal and violent. The staff handled it with grace and understanding. When my loved one was threatening staff they used gentle redirection and accountability. Doctors try to manage meds as best as possible but it's so hard on a 14day PEC. Only criticism is that MDs couldn't give her more time for med adjustments and stability of mood. I know a lot of people have elder family members who go through mental health challenges but in this area? Have gone through a few with my loved one. Perimeter is okay too, very caring people but the physicians at Perimeter did not do as much as the physicians at Oceans have done! Out of several hospitals and mental health facilities the physicians at Oceans have been the only ones willing to treat her mental challenges by observing and watching. Making changes through medication management and obverving again. Beacon team in Metarie are amazing (ask for Katherine). But AVOID BEACON IN LACOMBE!!! They will put your loved one in an unsafe discharge situation. Avoid social worker Shaun. Oceans? They would never do that. It's not 5 star, but take it from someone who definitely understands family/ patient challenges-- Have faith in Oceans. They will surprise you.
