PIE has such great staff and facilities to help clients learn!
Home away from home! Our son had the most amazing time at this location. I don't know how to express the love, support, transparency, education, communication, and so much more that they shared during our son's time with them. We are thankful to all staff for all they do to care for all little ones. You're all a blessing!
They educate both the child and the parents. Our child came home with new signs and words on the first day.
My child was here for a year and 4 months and although most of the time was great and he did show a lot of changes during this time the way they kicked him out was unacceptable. He was in pod 43 and there was a drastic change in staff. Every pick up went great and I was told there was times he had “small aggression towards peers but QUICKLY redirected” other then that he had a great day. So great! No issues, love to hear it. One day for my weekly meeting I came in and was told I would have to take him home because he scratched a child, I asked if there would be any disciplinary actions taken like him being kicked out to be specific and I was told NO. We were not at that point yet and a meeting would be held to discuss a goal to work on this aggression so it doesn’t happen again. (Prior to this I had a text from about a month or two before where he egressed toward another peer). No other situations were brought up to my attention what so ever. The next day on a virtual meeting. Lisa the center manager let me know this was not a suitable place for my son and gave me a 30 day notice and that’s IT. I had no warning that if he did this again he would be removed NOTHING. Just out, I later sent an email as I was too upset to even talk during the meeting. Asking for another chance as I had no idea this aggression was that big of an issue as I was only told of one other time he was aggressive. I am a stay at home mom and would do anything to help him, go every single day if I had to but no. Lisa replied with a long email explaining all these other aggressions that I was not aware of and said he was out in 30 days. The staff needs to be properly trained so that first other peers do not get hurt, every child has someone with them at all times so the fact that it even got that far is outrages and no video footage was shown to me. I had also asked about help finding him help elsewhere and the only option Lisa gave me was 1hr + away. She told me during the meeting she would get back to me regarding a place in LaCrosse that might be able to come to Winona but I never heard back. Now my son has been home with no more ABA, speech therapy nothing. We were just left to start all over and look for resources and Winona has nothing else but PIE and my son being kicked out this way is not fair. A behavioral plan should have been done, I should have been given the chance to try to help my son, they should have given me overall more support in handling the situation. More communication would have been helpful and the help should have been given to me as that is the reason why I went to PIE. For help! Again, I told them multiple times I would be there if I had to but there was no going around it. The staff working with my son every day wanted to help him as the center manager did not. Her easiest route was to kick him out the center instead of trying to work with me to help him. Again I was available and they were aware of this. Another family that went to PIE was also kicked out the same way and because PIE isn’t part of the school system there is nobody to report to. So in hope of a better change for other children since my son couldn’t have it I hope this review gets to the hands of someone that will take charge and make the necessary changes for the better at the center and positively impact other children.
They are the best management, teachers all the school because my son goes this center and I remember how he was and know how he is. Best autism school
