I am extremely disappointed with my experience. I paid for a service expecting professionalism, timely care, and clear communication, none of which were delivered. It took almost two months just to get to the evaluation, which was already frustrating and unacceptable given the expectations that were set. After expressing my dissatisfaction and requesting to discuss the situation, Marsha T. LeGoullon, the Clinical Director, refused to call me back to have a direct conversation. Instead, she preferred to communicate only through email, stating that she wanted everything documented rather than speaking with me directly. This felt unprofessional and dismissive, especially given the seriousness of my concerns. What made this experience worse was the lack of accountability and empathy. Rather than attempting to resolve the issue or offer a reasonable solution, my concerns were shut down, and no refund or meaningful resolution was offered. This situation could have been handled much better with honest communication, transparency, and respect for the client. Based on my experience, I would not recommend this business to others who expect professional service and respectful communication
My Son has been with PTLC for nearly 5 years. Through out all of our tribulations and rough patches, switching schools, homeschooling, divorce, PTLC has been our Rock! Their support is unwavering. We have always felt comfortable and supported no matter which theripist we have been placed with. They have all been easy to talk with and helpful. My son loves going to his sessions. When we first started my son would have no control over his emotions and had erratic outbursts. He now has so much more control, and uses his words to express himself and has a large vocabulary for his emotions to let me know exactly what he needs. PTLC has changed our lives in every aspect and we continue to look forward to all the knowledge and they still have to give to us as a family.
Words cannot express how grateful we are for Pediatric Therapy and Learning Center....at this point, we consider them family as they have been a part of our lives for almost 10 years!!! Marsha and team are truly the best at what they do, and I don't know what we would have done without them. From the moment we started going to PTLC, they treated us like family and their approach to therapy is top notch! Also, as a parent, I have learned so much from them as they have guided me through so many challenging scenarios. I assure you .... our experience with PTLC is PRICELESS!!! Thank you PTLC for all that you have done for our family and GOD BLESS you for all that you do for the children in this community! Love, Layla
My son started feeding therapy with Pediatric Therapy and Learning Center (PTLC) 6 months ago. At 3 years old, he was taking 45 minutes to eat a basic lunch. He was rejecting most proteins, he had an extremely limited diet, and I couldn’t get him to try anything new. If I pushed him to eat, he would have meltdowns that could last an hour. At its worst, we had him eating in front of the TV for most meal as it seemed to distract him enough to eat. Finally, my husband and I decided to get a referral to Pediatric Therapy and Learning Center to see what could be done. It has been nothing short of life changing for our family. After one evaluation, they were able to diagnose the problem. They explained the problem, mapped out a solution plan, and now 6 months later my son has graduated the program able to eat chicken, sausage, hot dogs, ground beef and many other foods. I have been equipped to continue to help him explore other foods and expand his pallet, and he enjoys eating meals with the family at the dinner table. This was much more than I had come to hope for, and I will forever be grateful to Allison LeBouef and the PTLC team. To all parents who want something better for your children, this program is life changing but be ready to start changing your life. The success of the program depends heavily on parental involvement (or grandparents, or caretakers). That’s not to overwhelm you if you don’t have the perfect home life! The team will help you come up with a plan no matter what your circumstances. Just be ready to change what they say to change. They will ask you to sit at the table with your child for as many meals as possible while playing with them, getting messy, interacting with food in fun ways…and this is an extremely time-consuming endeavor! My laundry, dishes, and relaxation often had to take a back seat, and that was hard. However, the payoffs were worth it. It turns out that children naturally relate food with community and relationships. Contra what I thought would help, they actually thrive when you connect meal times with family time. And at the end of the day, you are helping your child learn to trust you in an area where they have a natural fear or weakness. I suspect that will have other benefits in the future. Miss Allison gave us the tools to make these meal times enjoyable, and it was such a relief to be debrief with her each week during the formal therapy sessions to adjust what I was doing. At the end, I was the one who wanted to stay to continue therapy and they had to encourage me that my son was ready to go. As a bit of an aside, one of my fears had been that we were going to show up to PTLC, and my son was going to be over-diagnosed with every disorder known to pediatrics, and we were going to be pushed into all kinds of other therapies unnecessarily. That is not at all what happened. Miss Allison and the team genuinely wanted my son to grow to the point he did not need them anymore. I’m sure they would have recommended other therapies had he needed them; but the only problem he had was eating and that’s the only one they recommended. So, if that is a fear or concern, don’t let that stop you. Go get an evaluation – it’ll be worth it.
My daughter has been in OT here since the end of last school year to work on self-regulation, self-awareness, and impulse control. Her school assessment from the last quarter of last school year to the end of the first quarter of this school year was a HUGE improvement! She’s also started sleeping through the night (which she hadn’t done in the whole 5 years she’s been alive). Her attention span and behavior are better as well. The changes she’s undergone are amazing, and I have Allison and her staff to thank for that!
Pediatric Therapy and Learning has been life changing for my daughter! There are no words to describe how great Allison is with my little girl. She took the time to get to know her and genuinely cares to know what she is thinking and what is going on in her life. She uses the right balance of patience, encouragement, and caring assertiveness to guide my daughter through the exercises. In only a year she has accomplished so many things and grown so much.
My son has been attending Occupational Therapy at PTLC for over a year. We drive from New Iberia just to come here! We are so happy here that we are transitioning to have him receive speech therapy from PTLC as well! They are truly focused on the child and what is best for them, and it is such a positive, welcoming atmosphere. My son has made tremendous progress here, and I always feel involved in his treatment. If you are on the fence, give them a call and see for yourself how wonderful they are!
We have been with PTLC for 2 1/2 years now and are very pleased! Our daughter has made so much progress over this time span and we feel like she is in great hands when bringing her. They are understanding and open to meeting our needs. We feel as though they are family and always will be part of her success journey!
