It's the high school version of rehab. You get treated like a 12 year old, threatened into sharing in class when you have severe ptsd and might not be ready, and an out of touch, ignorant counselor who isn't a recovering addict and treats rehab like a corporate job and will shame you passive aggressively when you don't respond the textbook way she wants. I was there in 2020 so maybe she's not there anymore, but I can confidently assert that their punitive, infantilizing, hierarchical one size fits all methods did nothing for me but make me feel resentment, emotionally unsafe and cornered into a performative pressure no recovering addict should be under. There are better rehabs in Iowa (House of Mercy in dsm) and better approaches. Addicts are messy, nuanced people and we need a messy, nuanced approach if you want to help us. One plus is that the facility itself is pleasant and the food was pretty good. I could tell most of the counselors meant well, but it's not someplace I'd recommend to much of anyone unless you've been court ordered and just want to tough it out somewhere that isn't dirty and crowded. I did the required minimum participation and spoke/read in class when called on, was clean and quiet and didn't bother anyone, and was threatened to be kicked out because she asked for 'volunteers' in class and I didn't raise my hand. Reminds me lf a job offering 'voluntary' overtime and then bullying anyone who doesn't sign up. Great way to make a traumatized, abused person feel safe and understood, huh? (Kayla, if you're still there, I'm talking to you 👋)

I was only allowed to see a psychiatrist on a Friday. Their only open until noon on Friday. Because of my work schedule and that I fall asleep while driving if I don't get enough sleep I needed an appointment at 3pm. I was transferred to someone who could supposedly help me. They didn't answer so I had to leave a voicemail. They never called me back. I now have no psychiatrist and none of my mental health medications.

Great staff, excellent peer support during my stay. By the end of treatment, I saw life in an entirely different light. I now see that a sober life is beautiful and well worth living. Thank you, Prairie Ridge, for bringing me back to myself and giving my children their mother back.

Crazy how they hold cannabis right next to meth or even anything harder than, when compared. They will label you an addict for smoking some weed and give you the most hoops to jump through on it. Someone fell out too while I was in the lobby no one could wake her up cause she been up so long but hey my problems are far more serious than that.

The heal care provider Mindy was super caring and amazing to work with. The staff and nurses I worked with the day prior were incredibly helpful, caring and tried their hardest to be accommodating as well. Unfortunately, the nurse whom I was spoke with today named Deb, was extremely unprofessional, rude and dismissive when I kindly asked to update some of my logistics information that worked better for me both financially and appropriate to my relative location. I genuinely feel bad for anyone who is looking for professional help, needs assistance and has to speak with this individual…

Very nice place. Everyone from check in, admissions, counselors, supervisors and front desk were friendly and helpful. Plenty for them to do on their breaks and love that they had a wellness center and music room. They always asked for feedback in groups to see if there was something they could do better. My son was comfortable here and had nothing but good things to say. Highly recommend!
