Progressive Therapy Associates

I was diagnosed with a Mild Cognitive Impairment, but it had a severe effect on my thinking and my everyday functioning. My whole life changed. I was referred to Progressive Therapy Associates and my life began to change again, but for the better this time. My therapist, Janet, taught me new ways to think and to function and I began living life again. Granted, there have been a lot of ups and downs in this process, but she has stuck with me through it all. She is my therapist, my teacher and my best cheerleader. It could not be more obvious that she is totally invested in seeing me succeed. I could go on and on with details about how truly impressive, impactful and compassionate Progressive Therapy Associates is, but Google probably wouldn't let me write that much! :) They are life changers! I totally and completely recommend them.

I left services with Amber Christiansen for executive dysfunctions for a while due to sessions being paused due to endocrinology health problems. At that time a discharge was done without my knowledge; no discharge statement was given to me so I didn’t even know it had occurred. When my health improved two months later I came back to resume sessions and then they began a series of opaque statements to justify the discharge, such as “based on prior attempts and limited gains noted in your chart, the service model we provide does not appear to be a match for your needs,” and "services not aligned with your needs as observed in previous treatment sessions.” What was observed? Why was that not communicated to me? If it was correct, then it could certainly be openly stated without fear of being substantively challenged. Apparently these unclear and weak statements were designed purely for defensive purposes, with no input from me desired. Communication was closed and secretive, with many assumptions having obviously been made since I was not involved in them. Quite a level of power seems to have been felt and exercised, which was more than inappropriate, it was unethical. I could sense it was being directed by the “owner,” as Janet Grove calls herself. My one experience with Ms. Grove was her forcefully assisting me one time while I tried to get coffee in the break room since the receptionist was out as usual. Her demeanor was hostile. Now I see the other co-owner/co-founder has made a quick exit. I guess I’m not be surprised. It’s my opinion that this is not a reliable health service provider. People would be wise to avoid it. There is another health provider in town who offers the same set of services.

I can’t say enough wonderful things about Progressive Therapy Associates. Let me just say the staff is all so welcoming and kind. A very relaxed and calming atmosphere. I sustained a traumatic brain injury and have worked one on one for a multitude of hours over the last 2+ years. My cognitive therapist, Amber, has been a huge part of my many mini-successes. I don’t think I’d come as far in my recovery without her. Her commitment to her clients is unparalleled to most. She has truly been a blessing. Amber is very cognizant and intuitive when it comes to next steps and course of action. She has given me so many tools to continue to strengthen my cognition, my communication, my processing, as well as improving my endurance. I have been on a true roller coaster but her compassion is healing in itself. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the therapy I am receiving.

My husband essentially lost all communication skills as the result of a stroke 3 years ago. We were referred to Janet at Progressive Therapy Associates while at in-patient rehab and have been seeing her and Matthew there ever since. With the support, guidance, teaching, and all-around care from the therapists at Progressive Therapy, Daron has made great strides with his communication and fight against severe apraxia and aphasia. The team at Progressive Therapy has been great to work on communication from all angles and has provided a truly personalized program. They care about their clients and give beyond the hour-long therapy sessions. There has been texts and calls throughout the day to help with phone use, post-it reminders and encouragement of limb use, and cheering on every win – whether that is with communication, graduating PT, or getting a driver’s license back. What we note as speech therapy on the calendar has been that and boat loads more! The team at Progressive Therapy Associates has helped Daron so much with his communication and beyond. We are forever grateful for the referral we received and would refer others in need of their services over and over again.

After 2 years of barely functioning and barely getting through the days, I was diagnosed with a condition that affects the function of part of my brain. I was referred to Progressive Therapy Associates. From the very beginning, I was treated as an individual, a person, not just another client or just another number. From day one, my therapist cared about what was important to me, rather than any sort of textbook goals. The relationship has been one of collaboration. And it could not be more evident that my therapist is invested in me and my progress. There is a whole lot of caring and compassion at Progressive Therapy Associates. With time and with her guidance and therapy, I have found myself in a place I never thought I would be again. I am functioning and I am living life again. I still have goals. I still have areas I want to work on. But now, because of Progressive Therapy Associates, I also have hope back again. Perhaps needless to say at this point, but I could not recommend them more highly.
